All they have to do is give me 6000+ channels with all the sports and TV channels I could ever want and I’d not have any problem paying their $50/mth fee. I doubt that will ever happen.
$50! Hell No…That’s Half a year of what my IPTV service costs. Plus Max and Disney Plus are crap IMO. Hulu is okay at best. Here at the Insider we have our very own customized Bundles
"This high churn rate is a streaming business “killer,” You Bettcha!
Ohhhhhhhh you are sooooooo right.
And they wonder why churn and piracy is so high.Greedy you know whats imo.
However, Bloomberg, citing “people with knowledge of the matter,” said on Monday that WBD “has decided to raise subscription prices as it seeks to reach $1 billion in earnings from the Max and Discovery+ streaming services” in 2025. WBD has declined to comment on the purportedly upcoming price hike, which will affect the bundle’s final pricing.
Here in the UK the market was saturated a long time ago, they were never going to get sustainable numbers for the amount of streaming services fighting for customers. Netflix premium is now free to Sky subscribers. Apple, Amazon Prime & Discovery+ are generally free for 6-12 months all the time to just about everyone and their cat & dog. Yesterday there was a big announcement of SkySports+ but it is just going to be a part of existing packages for Sky Sports subscribers anyway whereas 5 years ago they would have tried to punt that for £9.99 a month. Sounds like the desperation measures are sweeping across to you guys too.
The troubling part is that we are depending on these media corporations to be healthy to supply our content.
I thought about that but I think the weak ones will get weeded out and the strong ones will remain. Competition is always good for the end user.
Healthy is one thing…but when these media companies are expecting to make 1 billion profit per year they don’t care about their health. All they see is $$$,and unless and until they stop being so greedy they are all going to crash and burn.
To me the sad part is the lack of long range thinking. Why is Streaming going the way of Cable? Is it truly just about the money? Why is it so hard to see a “complete” picture and learn from history? Everyone wants a piece of the pie and no matter how big we make the pie, there are still those lining up to get more than they need. For now as @MarkxG points out, the weak eventually won’t be able to push through the throngs lined up, to get a piece, and will disappear.
Miki,it’s always about the money.
And that’s a narrative you can expect to see pushed more and more by the big corps. But don’t be troubled by it as the big fish will, as always, be just fine.
Yep look at how College sports are being ruined. NIL.
TBH and I’m sure I’ll get a whole lot of flack for this, I’d pay 200 a month to get what I get from my IPTV. Fact is they have EVERYTHING, and I don’t have to carry four different verified IPTV services. One has Bally the other doesn’t, one has Bein the other doesn’t and etc etc etc.
No call for anyone to give you flack. You have got what you want at a price that is acceptable to you. Fair enough.
Apart from paying for a VPN and Real-debrid I get the news I want, the sports I am interested in and VOD for the shows I want to watch from free apps, and that us acceptable to me.
Each to his own - carry on streaming!!
Good point nbay.
What many people want, especially sports fans, is to have all the channels that they want conveniently within the same EPG.
My problem is I’ve had 3 of these either get rolled or exit-scam in the past two years. With my crypto, which I already dislike having to use for my purchases. But I hear ya… I’ve tried playing it off legit and they either don’t like that I an in EU or behind a VPN. Here’s who I have offered money to:
- Netflix - no vpn
- HBO/Max - you’re in EU. If i vpn, no vpn allowed.
- Prime - no vpn
- Hulu - same as Max
So, the high seas it is! With Stremio/Torrentio/Debrid, the world is my oyster. And now with Streamfire and Sports Fire, I can remember how much I despise commercials!
You find a service that offer all that for 50 bucks a month I want to be the first to know. I have Hulu and they stink. Buffer all the time with my tv setting on top of the router and it kicking out 500mbs, then I get the screen we cannot connect to that service at this time, try later
I’m just gonna keep on doin what i do. Surviving n payin my bills n takin care of my fam. to the best of my abilties, pray for this country and if I can save pennies by takin “side roads” , I will continue to go with what I use as opposed to bowing to the mighty cable stream GOD’S!!!
I’ll take a 1000 channels without buffering for $35/month. I’ve never had a favourite listing over 50 channels. IPTV is potentially great and I suspect the future but i’m getting tired of Vendors that promise the moon, and end up oversubscribing clients for yet another disappointing experience, when providing sufficient infrastructure and backup is capable of delivering a buffer free experience. As a former Q/A Manager, i’ll take quality over quantity EVERY time - the trick is to locate it!
