Hey Guys….I just opened a Startmail acct and I am having a terrible time trying to set up notifications. I have turned on every option for notifications in my email settings, my startmail settings, my phone settings, everything I can imagine and I still cannot get notifications of new emails. I’ve got the Startmail shortcut on my phone and I’ve tried the regular email clients (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc) and everything I’ve tried still doesn’t give me the notifications of new emails. Is there something I’m missing???
Hello @cowboysfan1172 Unfortunately, I don’t think you can get notifications with the shortcut but you should be able to with Thunderbird, Outlook, etc.
Here’s how to do it in Android and if you do a search on Internet (“Get Thunderbird Notifications on iOS”) for iOS you should be able to find that as well.

Based on your resent post on StartMail I’m ready to switch over from gmail address to using StartMail but I have a question related to security/privacy and the mail client I would like to use. I just want to make sure I’m not jeopardizing my security by doing this.
I like the Gmail client on my Andorid device, and I have “Other” email address added to it like .msn and my own personal domain so its very easy to swipe through and see my email form different addresses very quickly and easy.
I would like to still use that Gmail client and add the StartMail address for one central location. Does adding a StartMail address in the Gmail client give Google visibility into the emails or information? My thought is no as it’s not going through the google/gmail servers but wanted to verify with you first.

Not sure on this. But, the fact that those emails are still being downloaded into the Google server makes me question this.
I would suggest reaching out to StartMail support and asking them as they are the experts in the email security world.
Hey Troy….i updated my email back on dec. 1st to a startmail address and getting some mail but still getting some at the old address, one on the 9th was the latest….just curious how long the change over takes….
Hello, all of mine were forwarded properly from what I remember but that was over two years ago.
like i said just curious….at the end of this month the old address will be null and void anyway….and so far very happy with Startmail, thanx for the review and discount
