Spectrum to Impose Data Caps?

Concrap has a monitor so you can check exactly what you use for the month or even on a daily basis. I looked in my Spectrum account and can find no graph to check. Although, I do believe I can get an alert for my usage…not sure?

When I had Concrap and did not have unlimited date I kept it below a TB each month, but I was always close. When I opted for the unlimited (for an additional fee) I would go over a TB just by a little bit and that is streaming a TV 24/7 and some movies. Now, take into account I am single with no kids at home and am not a gamer.

I just checked again. Apparently, they do have a way to check if you have a data plan. My plan is unlimited, so they do not show a consumption chart.

Although, I did see where I received that senior discount monthly credit applied to my upcoming bill. Woohoo!! I just saved another $30 bucks a month! Miller Time! :beers:

Was curious about this on my end. Went into my online account and they had a bunch of graphs/stats on data Usage. I don’t think AT&T Fiber caps any of their internet plans as I have unlimited

my tmobile bill shows my usage every month…for Feb. mine was a total of 288.27GB data :astonished:, of that, internet was 286.16GB…(guess what that’s from !!)…

So really, a 1TB data cap shouldn’t be an issue for most of us here, right? I would think this would be more like folks that download 4k movies, or stream almost 24/7 high quality movies, etc.

If I remember correctly, Concrap allowed a monthly 1,024 GB for capped packages. Then they would charge you an additional $10 for each gig over your allowance, or you could purchase an unlimited for $50. I think?

Not sure 1TB Cap would be enough for me. Again I’m uncapped but I’ve used just over 500GB and have 16 Days left in monthly cycle. So if I did have a 1TB monthly cap I might be over based on my current usage

Oh I thought that was last month’s usage…that is a current view of your usage. Ugh, yea maybe this will be worse than I thought lol.

What I used to do when I lived in Cape Coral, FL and had Concrap. When I got close to going over my data cap. I would switch over to WiFi hotspots. You don’t get charged for data used when on wifi hotspots. Can’t really remember what it was called, but I know I changed to wifi and my data usage wasn’t affected. Keep in mind where I lived in the Cape was right smack dab in the city hub.

That makes sense. I have Spectrum for ISP and Verizon as my cell provider. I have unlimited data with Verizon, so flipping to hotspot for a day or two could make sense. But it isn’t near as fast.

Comcast is 1.2TB…I average btwn 8 - 900GB/mo…but I also watch OTA on the weekend…golf, football et al. I avg just under 30GB/day. They do give you 1 free OOPS per year.

AMD…in all my years in the cable biz…only saw one city that had 2 different ISPs on the same overhead utility system…what a cluster-u know what that was to work on.

So you’re saying i’m stuck with Spectrum? :crying_cat_face:

Yeah, but ya gots ta do, whtcha gots ta do. Better than paying for an overage fee. Besides, you probably would be talking about a day or two.

Yep, I never did use my “oops” freebie. lol

I would really like to know what I use now, but I can’t find any chart or graph in my Spectrum account.

According to where you live of course, but I’ve found from dealings with my Customers coupled with my diligent research for them who are on Spectrum, when they (spectrum) are the only ISP in an area, they are entrenched deeeeep in the pockets of the local municipalities involved. Those municipalities get a chunk of money off your bill. "Franchise Fees"or whatever bogus name they want to call it for ripping us off every month for the crappy service, (and even worse Customer Service). The old adage “Follow the Money” still rings true, Hence the Monopolistic tendencies over willingness to open the area up to competition.
Change can be made from Grassroots efforts, but it takes a ton of time and boatloads of due diligence to effect said change. Weirdly, in my neighborhood, our ELECTRIC UTILITY is offering Fiber Optic Service starting this Fall! Im looking forward to not only the new speed and quality of streaming, but mostly being able to CAN Spectrum!

In the past, I searched for real time data usage but the best I could come up with was to monitor it on my router…which was a pain in the buttocks. With your fancy gateway accessible thru yer phone…I’d check it out real closely, or do a search for it…might find you do have some kinda ’ data usage tracking gizmo somewhere in between & betwixt it

@AMD237 Not sure what kind of area you live in…but your options should be cable…DSL…(fiber, depending) or maybe T-Mobile…so…it’s a definite maybe that you’re stuck with Spectrum. If so…you just have to make the best out of it…see where your monthly data falls…& do whatcha’ gotta’ do till competition comes along :face_with_peeking_eye:  :eyes:
