sling box has discontinued its service. is there a suitable replacement device available
Sling Tv is a service and provides an app for android , Roku and others thats if you are attempting to stay in the sling ecosystem.
Sling box was a device to send Dish network satellite channels via the internet. At the time it was introduced, there was a fair amount of legal haggling with the usual content providers about it.
I’m not sure that Dish/Sling or anyone sells a direct replacement. They do sell a device that allows you to remotely watch the channels you get on an antenna on the Sling app.
johnd1, to clarify, are you wanting to watch the Dish Network satellite service at a location outside of your home?
Similar is TABLO that works for over the air tv stations. You can watch it remote if you have good bandwidth and a permanent IP address.
Thats what I use tablo for. I really dont use it at home but it is setup on my network and when im away I can watch local channels on my phone. Sling box was good at sending your cable channels in the same way…pretty neat in its day but now with a sling tv subscription you can do the same.
