When i put kodi on the new firestick max the icon doesn’t show up , anyone else have this problem ?
It’s an old bug that has resurfaced in the new Fire OS 8. Amazon will release an update to fix it sometime.

lol after seeing all the complaints about the missing icons for the new fire stick,maybe there needs to be a post at the top of the page.

Install Sideload Launcher through TROYPOINT Toolbox to deal with this.

I just purchased a new 2023 Amazon firestick 4k Max. I downloaded kodi and added Superman build. Unfortunatley the name of the Kodi did not appear in the app bar… It is sort of a blank bar that when I tap kodi opens up. Is there a way to change the name or add a name to an downloaded app on the amazon firestick 4k MAX 2023 edition
I have tried the top idea with the launch and do not like it. The other 2 did not work. This could be a specific issue with the recently recently released 4k max. thanks

This is from 2022 prior to the release of the newest firestick. Probably will need a update from amazon to fix this unless someone comes up with a better suggestion.

I spoke to Amazon last night and they recognize the problem as they have had many complaints. They are attempting to correct it as it is an IOS issue.
I reported this a few days ago. I am not sure what you mean by IOS. It’s a repeat of the same issue that occurred with the Fire OS 7 introduction and was a result of sideloaded app developers needing to modify their code to adapt to the new Fire OS. Now it’s happened again with the release of Fire OS 8. There are a few things that can be done to assist in recognizing which apps the blank icons belong to. Troy has posted info on this.

Ordered a new firestick 4k max and installed some apps like Kodi and Cinema HD. All i get are blank boxes. Everything works. I just don’t know what app im selecting until it launches.
Sideload launcher will show them, or simply select it and at the top of your screen it should be named, or simply wait for an update to fix it. Talked about a lot. AFTVnews has more details if you need it, or watch Troy’s review.

Hey everybody, as of today the gray apps on the new 4k max are gone replaced by the correct thumbnail on the Home Screen.

PJ, your post prompted me to look for and install latest Firestick 4K (new) update. Voila! All sideloaded apps now have icons which can be moved to the favorites bar on the home screen - just like in the good old days (last week on my older Firestick).
