I have read a couple of the threads about installing the scrapers in Seren to make it work. I have tried several times following the post and directions to get the provider package to install but it never does. I can download it on my desktop and it comes in a zip file which I can then view the unzipped files. In Seren though it does not download and unzip the files I don’t think. I have followed Troy’s video but can not get the thing up and running. I have checked the spelling and am sure everything is OK. Any help would be appreciated.
Welcome to our community
I’m not entirely sure what your doing but the scrapper for seren is a url.
I think you need to start from scratch read the guide abd try again. There is a incorrect process here.
I think I may have posted this a little confusing. I have used the tutorial to install Seren and then also to install the scrapers. I am OK all the way to where I enter the url for the provider and then the program just flashes when I hit install. It does not seem to install anything and just sits there. I have even waited several minutes but nothing happens after that. There is no install complete message or acknowledgement. This is where my problem lies.
Does it still give you the error no providers package installed?
Yes it does still give me the no providers error.
What device do you use? Make sure if it’s a firestick that you have enough space and that it’s getting power from the wall and not into the TV, meaning using the power adapter.
I use a Mekool and not a firestick. My Mekool is powered from the wall though.
Hi @jadinolfi
So I’ve read through the thread.
Question…… can you get the Seren add-on to install?
Is it just in the set-up of Seren, specifically installing the provider package?
Seren seems to install OK but the scrapers do not. As I said above it just flashes and then sits there when I go to install the scrapers. After that I can bring up Seren but there are no providers error comes up. This would lead me to think that the problem lies in the getting the scrapers to install properly. Of course I am no expert or even an advanced user so this is only conjecture on my part. I would like to thank all you who have tried to help me though.
Its strange issue if it’s not the url spelt incorrectly or internet issues then I’m not sure.
I haven’t been able to recreate the issue. Some others have had this issue, it could be network congestion but I don’t think so.
Also seren has been updated to seren 2 I’d do a fresh install.
http://bit.ly/a4kScrapers that s has to be a capital
Setting addons my addons and you can update everything there.
@jadinolfi
I was thinking like @TP-Dracoo.
Also, if you can, could you maybe post a screen shot of what you are seeing?
Like @TP-Dracoo said it’s an unusual error, one, that I too can’t seem to recreate (I tried a few times today in fact).
I use Seren daily and have for a good couple of years. So can’t say I know what your are experiencing.
I have tried everything I could think of also. I do have the Upper case S in the scraper name. I think I am going to do a complete redo of the whole setup and also go to Seren 2. I will let you all know how that works for me. Won’t be until tomorrow though. Thanks again for all the time and effort.
Good luck; come back here and let us know how it went and of course if you encounter any more errors.
Well, all is well. I completely uninstalled Kodi and Seren and then started back from scratch. Followed the Troypoint videos and made sure everything was perfect. Alas, everything is working fine.
After thinking about it all I had installed Kodi on the firestick before I went to the MeKool I think and maybe this had something to do with the problems I had. This time I installed Kodi right from the Google Play Store. Could this have something to do with it.
Anyway thanks to everyone who helped me through this problem. You guys and gals are AOK.
Solution was to uninstall and reinstall from play store.
