Scariest Movie of ALL time?

I’m gonna have to watch it again. Been many many years, but I can go just to the end where they resume the exorcism after taking a break and resting.

Well, we know the demon didn’t really die - as it was back in Exorcist 2. Though a more grown up girl (from the first movie) had the power (another spoiler…) to banish him in the end as a swarm of locusts.

Not sure I’d have the urge to re-watch.

Maybe by committing suicide. The priest knew he would be subjugated to hell. Thereby, as he committed suicide knowing he was destined to hell he took the demon along for the ride down.

I don’t believe a demon can be killed. However, a demon can be cast back to its domain in hell.

I actually believe my ex-wife was a demon, or maybe even the Devil itself. :face_vomiting:

Everytime I would take her picture, nothing would appear. The evil has no soul.:japanese_ogre:

Anabelle series, but Anabelle: Creation was the scariest for me and I’m no novice when it comes to horror movies.

I was raised Catholic; endured 8 years of Catholic school. There was always some exception built into everything - “If you say a SINCERE Act of Contrition,…blah, blah, blah…you will be forgiven.” In any case, what Father Karras did he did believing it was the only thing he could do to save Regan, which was indeed a selfless act, and being a priest, I think gave him an automatic pass. ::shrug::

I may be showing my age here (lol), but when I look back on all of the media I’ve consumed over the years, I’d have to say what scared me the most was a movie I saw on the local Afternoon Movie (remember those?) called ‘Straight-Jacket’ - Joan Crawford, a BIG axe, and the cheesiest-looking decapitated heads ever put on film … but, I was maybe 7, 8 years old at the time, and that movie gave me nightmares for months afterward, not to mention a deep fear of Joan Crawford that lasted even longer…

Mommie Dearest was a memorable one, too. I do remember the film you referred to.

I voted Exorcist.
But to me the scariest moments of any movie that I ever experienced was the Russian roulette scene in ‘The Deer Hunter’.

Father Karras was challenged with having a crisis with his faith. In the end of the movie, when he became possessed by the devil, it was that instant before he threw himself out of the window, that he validated his faith again. You saw it briefly in his eyes when it changed back over to human looking eyes before his selfless act.

It’s this faith, an act of faith, that allowed good to triumph over evil. I wouldn’t think this would fall under the textbook sin of suicide.

The Exorcist, when her head spun around I was done. I went to the lobby and played video games until my friends came out of the movie. I finally watched it all the way through at age of 50.

Jaws. I could not go swimming in the ocean at night after seeing the opening of Jaws.

I remember my Dad took us to Wildwood, NJ to the beach when Jaws was in the theaters. Our first night there he took us to see Jaws. The next day he was wondering why my brother and sister, along with myself, weren t going into the ocean. My Mom bitched at him the entire week. I just hung out on the balcony of the hotel playing with my toys. Lol. The memories though. First time I tried grouper too
