I have never even used any Tizen apps or even updated the OS. My Shield Pro runs everything. Unlimited options that way. The TV is really just a huge monitor
Yeah… Mine too but it is a solid back-up.
Absolutely.
Has there been a TV list to show which one is the best posted on this blog?
Hi @ Miki
I know you just said the TV is basically a monitor. But doesn’t it matter if one purchases a different model to get the better clearness & codes for audio/video? @Bigrich gave me his ideas on the Samsung 85" vs the 98"
Do you think these might be older inventory they are trying to sell before something better is about to be released? I’m so sorry for being a pest!!! But everyone in here has so much technical knowledge and you’ve all been fantastic with me I cannot express my gratitude and appreciation for putting up with me and all my questions!!!
So dear friend/Troy’s family member wha is your true recommendation on what would be better for me - Samsung 85" or Samsung 98" … does on have more pros or does one have more cons for me?
I’ve been so busy taking my mom to the hospital 3 times a week for cardiac rehabilitation program. Then always on guard making sure she’s breathing correctly and scared to death when I hear her scream out in the middle of the night having hallucinations due to her meds and sometimes terrified listening to her gasping for breath not knowing if she’s about to take her last breath!!!
So please forgive me for being a “begger” always taking up your time as well as @Rich, @Powerfader, and so many others… I’m in your debts forever. My mom also THANKS you ALL for your best wishes and prayers
@Patachou please stop my friend. Never apologize to me again for anything. You are a wonderful human being that I am proud to call friend and will always help you no matter what. I know the struggles you have taken on every day and that alone puts you head and shoulders above 99% of the human race. Ok now we’ve got that out of the way here we go. In some circles, like sex, size does matter. Oh wait, strike that we’re talking about tvs, my bad. With TVs size doesn’t matter, What matters is the model. Especially with Samsung. So if there are two TVs you’d like my opinion on, just give me the model number of each and I can research them and tell you which is the better of the two and why. I have the link somewhere for the Samsung model codes and what they mean. You are absolutely right the options within a TV do make a huge difference. What I meant by my monitor analogy is that once the TV is configured and your streaming device is also configured, you don’t need to go into the TV settings ever again or in fact even use the TV remote. But that doesn’t mean you want a bad picture or sound from your system. I paid good money for my Samsung TV and Soundbar, about $6500 Canadian, but WOW this is true home theatre with the easiest setup I’ve ever seen. Let me know how I can help and I’ll get you any info you need. Ok the winning lottery numbers seem not to be my forte, but just about anything else is doable. Big hug buddy and keep . BTW mine is a 65" and is about 8 ft away and for me it’s plenty big enough. But @Powerfader has posted a good suggestion for size and viewing distances.
Thanks Miki
Here is the information for the model numbers for the TV’S.
Hopefully you can help me out after reading up or checking them out.
Samsung - 85" Class QN900C Neo QLED 8K Smart Tizen TV
Model:QN85QN900CFXZASKU:6535208
Samsung - 98” Class Q80C QLED 4K UHD Smart Tizen TV
Model:QN98Q80CAFXZASKU:6543837
THANKS EVERYONE for being so helpful and kind to me
Imho your best bet is the Q80CAFXZA. It’s a 2023. The main reason is it’s 4K, the other 8k and not enough 8k stuff out there. The 98" is way to pricey. I wouldn’t go over the 85". The 85" is an amazing price. 120Hz refresh is amazing. 4 HDMI 2.1 ports. Yowsa. You’ll need a top line streaming box to.
Thanks @Miki for your feedback!
It was short. But the full specs are posted and the suggestion I made imho is the best one, especially with the 2.1 HDMI ports that allow for the 120GHz refresh. HDR10+ Wow. Now pair that with a new Q990c 10.1.4 Sound bar with 2.1 HDMI and you’ll have a kick ass home theatre system. The only thing is I had to turn off the mic on my soundbar because I was sick of Alexa responding to everything that was being said.
Alexa drives me nutz sometimes too @Miki
Hi my friend @Miki
I’m about to make my new TV purchase but I just want to check out with you one more time before “pulling the trigger ” that this is the make and model and specs you recommended for me
THANKS dear friend‼️
Yes sir. That’s the one.
@Miki Hello my dear friend!! Just wanted to let you know I “pulled yhe trigger” and ordered my Samsung - 98” Class Q80C QLED 4K UHD Smart TV along with a new Q990c 10.1.4 Sound bar with 2.1 HDMI Like you told me: “you’ll have a kick ass home theatre system!”
Everything will arrive and be installed on Fri, Feb 2nd - “Groundhog Day” (I wonder if I’ll be reliving the installation every day like Bill Murray in the movie )
I also want to thank @Bigrich @Powerfader @StreamPatron for their support and help as well
@Miki I Just wanted to thank you so much for all the time and effort you took to help me find what I was looking for. You’re a good person and I appreciate and respect you very much
God bless you and your family
I predict much happiness in your future…
P.S. I would add that Both Miki and Powerfader are as handy as a pocket on a shirt
Awww shucks @Patachou you humble me. You’re a genuinely nice person and it’s always a joy to me to be able to help you in any way possible. I look forward to your adventure with your new toys. I plug my shield directly into the same soundbar you have using the hdmi 1 input then the out to the earc on the one connect box which has a single cable into the TV. Be sure to get the SmartThings app for your phone and use it to control your sound system. Use “Adaptive” sound and on the TV the directors setting. Now Adaptive sound will take a couple of days and you using different media to create the perfect sound for your room. From Movies, to Music, to Series, the TV analyzes the sound feedback to adjust itself to your room and making it an amazingly immersive surround sound. I put the small speakers on stands at about 2 feet off the ground at about ear leveland and behind me aimed at the center of the TV. The rear speakers have a “blank” side that is suppose to face you and have the sound bounced off the walls, in fact using your ceiling and walls to give more immersive surround sound. I think you’ll love it. Be well my friend.
