Now that we’ve gotten my friend out of the internet stone age, another curveball…He has a TCL 55US5800 TV with built in Roku. Can I get around this. Oh. And I REALLY like the BuzzTV X5!!! Except for the annoying remote design flaw, it is a great piece of equipment!
Not sure what you’re asking. Our living room tv is a TCL Roku and I use a Shield Pro and the X5 on it. I set up our ONN devices on it as well
As @Streaming429 suggests, as long as you have a TV with an HDMI port you can plug in any device and use it for your “source” of media. Your “device” becomes the “brains” of your system and the TV will be the “monitor” for displaying your chosen medium.
I’m not a fan of “smart” TVs at all.
That said, as Miki said, there are some very inexpensive work around.
Roku built into tv is best of both worlds. You have multiple hdmi ports so you are set. All of roku’s free channels with antenna tv built in. So about 500 channels and you havent even started

@TXRon, will that same setup work on FS 4KK
sure. All required is the extra hdmi ports on the tv. As Miki said it becomes the brains and will work fine. The beauty of the roku tv is you can live in or out of their eco system with a few mouse/remote clicks. Roku has tons of free channels, integration with ota antenna and in my case 4 extra hdmi ports with one being arc(for sound if needed).
Okay, great. My friend isn’t local, so I can’t see the TV. Couldn’t find any schematics online; so figured I’d ask. Thanks!!!
