I made an interesting discovery recently with my FireTV 4k Max sticks (first and second gen). I dislike all the redundant buttons on the newer remotes so I’ve been using my original Firestick 4k remotes. They appear to work fine until…

  1. Using an early version of Flixvision, the remote wouldn’t activate the menu buttons. Switching to the latest remote, the menu buttons worked fine.
  2. Installing UK Turks, the 4k remote wouldn’t activate the keyboard so it was impossible to enter the activation code. Using the latest remote, the keyboard came up just fine.
    Note that this isn’t with the earliest Alexa voice remotes (no TV buttons) but the more recent Firestick 4k (OS6) device remotes (with the TV controls on them).
    More fun and games with OS7 and OS8!

As I posted before, I use my 4K Maxx remote on my shield pro. It does mostly all the processes on shield pro except for voice typing and some of the activation buttons. I hate that triangle looking remote. Must been developed by an alien.
