Recording Space for TiviMate on Android TV Box

Hi all as stated before I am new to this hobby. With the help and a lot of reading here I have managed to install Tivimate and tv service on my Mecool KM2 Plus. I want to record but I feel the KM2 will be too small for our needs. Through research I have 3 devices in mind to purchase, Shield Pro, FormulerZ11 Pro Max and Buzztv X5 S/E. Any thoughts?

I have a 2019 Shield Pro. Like many devices you will have to add storage but at least you can record in NTFS not just Fat32. I don’t record myself but there are lots that do and hopefully will chime in once they see your post.
@AMD237 @Powerfader and @TXRon are all ones with expert knowledge and advice and I certainly would recommend them.

Hi thanks Miki, what I am unsure of external storage as I have read that sometimes it is not recommended. I will continue reading on that. Happy Easter

External storage on a Shield is definately recommended. I can give you links to do it, but I believe @TXRon has done a NAS setup and records. So it is doable and instructions found everywhere.

If you want certified apps to work like netflix and be able to add things like Stremio then get the shield.

Other wise go for the buzz box

If you are planning on recording, I just dont think Shield Pro/Tivimate is your best combination to successfully do that. I am as big an advocate of the Shield Pro as anyone, but not for recording. Buzz and Formuler are more specifically designed as an IPTV box, so this may be your avenue. The Buzz U5 is intriguing too, as you can add a 2.5" internal hard drive to it. Someone that owns a Formuler or Buzz can chime in about how the recording works, but from what I know it is easier and more efficient than the Shield setup would be.

I am ok with out Netflix as I understand Kodi and RD work fine for me, have not tried Stremio.

I was looking at the U5 also because of the internal hard drive, my wife loves to record a lot of stuff to watch.

I don’t do a lot of recording and my usb drive seems to suffice for my limited needs, but if your wife likes to record a lot then I would set up a nas.

My device is a Nvidia Pro and I use a 256 GB Sandisk and Tivimate is my player.

The Km2 can easily record but either to external or if prefered add the external to internal; storage. Internal is easier to set up with proper permissions. I would get a usb ssd 3.1 drive for good speed, dont go cheap on storage or you will have issues and the prices are down right now. Any of the other boxes you mention will work as well. If recording a lot I would look for 4 gb ram, helps if recording and watching another program at the same time.

I am sure once I get this set up I will have to do the same for my daughter, not sure what nas stands for I am guessing something to do with networking? I am sure an old plumber might be able to figure it out with some help.

Network Attached Storage. I never record and store anything. Many do though.

Is that hard to do, is that the heading to search for. Thank you all for your help and information, I will let you know how I made out after I receive the unit I decide on.

Get the U5 and put a 2.5 SSD in it.
