Recording movies in kodi to shared directory on a pc

Is it possible to configure kodi to record movies on a shared directory on a pc.
Troy did an excellant job walking through how to record iptv shows on a shared directory on his pc.
Im looking for doing the same thing using kodi, if possible.

No expert here but.
I use The Crew Homelander Miora and Scrubsv2.
They all csn be configured to save movies to the direvtory I select on my C drive or and external drive I have.

I assume you are using kodi that installed on your PC .

Yes.
Use Samba protocol.
I use Samba 1 (ONE).
Most folks would say “OH NO don’t use that!!! It isn’t secure enough. Use Samba 3!!”
Well no one is going to get thru my cable wifi to my wifi to a firewall just to see what episode of Friends (just kidding…yuck) I am up to.

Enable Samba 1 in Windows.
KODI works fine with it. No Password bologna.
Just share a folder in Windows. Android is is even easier with a file manager of your chose. Linux is almost a brainless setup with Samba. iOS is easy. MacOS is fairly straight forward.

You will have to go into Kodi settings for network and also the download option for Umbrella , FEN etc. You will need to right click on the selected source in either FEN or Umbrella and select save.
The nice part is you get a small message stating “Started” “25% Saved” “50% saved” etc. Most most use MKV ( a package not a true encode/decode protocol)
so VLC or POT works perfect and allows Samba natively without much fuss.

I suggest you test the setup by transferring a small video clip to storage PC shared folder.
I also suggest it be on a USB stick ( if you are new to this).
Also suggest testing downloaded file from shared to target (client) pc via VLC. Make T-s,hoot easier.
If you have issues seeing the shared folder in VLC, you may have to restart VLC after making adjustments to the source (ie 192.168.X.X).(ie: SMB://192.168.x.x)

How did you manage this? I was unable to find anything in The Crew menu to enable downloads (Kodi20.2 in Windows 11)?
