Record IPTV on Onn Android TV Box

Hey Moondog,
I just did an experiment attempting to record to 16, 64 & 128 GB Sansdisks 3.0. None were brand new, all were repurposed and formatted to FAT32. I did a factory reset each time before setting up each USB drive.

Both the 16 & 64 GB drives worked perfectly recording about 4 hrs of content.
The 128 GB recording showed an error message & stopped within a minute.

All the four hour recordings required about 9 GB of space, which means you have to plan on about 2.25 GB/hr for space.

I didn’t know that the more modern “ntfs” formatting would work. You might try that with the larger than 64 GB USB stick.

I did not attempt to redirect the recordings away from the default path.
The default is /storage/emulated/Download/TiviMate/Recordings/
I’d suggest not to try to change from the default path.

Hi, and thanks for the reply. I tried that but my tivimate keeps recording to the internal storage of the onn box. I did everything according to troypoints video and I can move apps to the USB External Storage but I can’t record from tivimate to it. I can get a firestick to record from tivimate to USB External Storage but not the onn box. Any other suggestions?

If you use x-plore does your drive show up as this…

In tivimate under settings > other > recording >
Recording folder > select folder,…look like this

Yes, but it won’t let me direct any folders to it.

You think maybe it could be a corrupted tivimate version? You could try doing a backup, go into app settings force stop and clear data then uninstall then install a fresh version using downloader with code below. Sign in and restore.

It’s possible, I got my version off Troy’s app, but you never know. I’ll give it a try. Thanks.

I don’t understand, because I don’t bother to direct my recordings at all. I don’t bother.

The recording automatically locates onto the USB with absolutely no action by me, except to press the buttons to record.

Why are you trying to change the path from the default?
