Projector With FireStick

Does anyone have experience using a projector with a FireStick. If so, please share your recommendations on the preferred projector to use, picture quality, and any special way to set it up. I am thinking of using a projector because there are no outlets on the wall where I would put a TV and I don’t want to run an extension cord across the room.
Thanks

I use mine with a optoma hd141x just plug in and choose input on projector.

Electricians can put in a new outlet no problem. Take into consideration the placement of your projector and how bright it needs to be. If you’re not going to ceiling mount it then you need to make sure you aren’t placing it somewhere that you’re going to be walking in front of it. Unless you’re getting a high end projector you’d get more bang for your buck having an outlet installed and buying a TV.

I paired a firestick with an Optima 142x which works great. The 142 is a strong HD projector and sometimes can be found at a modest price. Got mine from Ebay.

I have used the firestick on a few different projectors. Projectors have a wide cost scale, where you can get ones that are very cheap (under $100) and high end 4K projectors, like an Epson or BenQ that are thousands $$.

After considering budget, you should gauge how bright a light output you need from the projector (measured in lumens) for the room that you’ll be viewing in. In nearly pitch darkness, you can get away easily with relatively low lumen models, but if you’re watching in daytime, with open windows or room lights on, you’ll need a model with high lumen count that ambient lighting won’t wash out the picture.

Almost all modern projectors have hdmi input and usb that can (should) power the stick. Some will have built in BT for pairing audio, otherwise you can pair it to the firestick via BT. This is assuming you want to use a wireless audio setup.

In the end, using a streaming stick with a projector works well and can be very flexible for environments like yours. If you have a light colored wall with good real estate, even better…otherwise consider a projection screen.

I’d like to thank everyone for your replies. First thing we did was contact the building manager to find out if they will allow us to install an outlet on the wall. Still waiting on the response. Thanks for that. The Optima 142x is a bit over our budget. I saw it for $800 and as inexpensive as $350 for a used one on Ebay. Don’t want to take a chance on a used one. The shipping fee was way too much also. Thanks for the suggestion on the lumens output. I didn’t think about that. Any recommendations on less expensive ones would be helpful. I’m not looking for perfect.
Thanks everyone!

How often are you going to use it? I would recommend a short throw projector with 4,000 lumens. If you’re on a tight budget you may have to sacrifice 4K and just stick to 1080p. I have an older Optoma GT1080 projector with only 2,800 lumens and it’s not bright enough for daytime viewing. I use it for movie nights with the lights off. Or occasionally for football with multiple split screens, but I have to turn off most of the lights and close the blinds or else it looks washed out. But it’s pretty awesome having a 120" screen with the projector mounted to the ceiling only about 4.5ft from the wall. I installed an outlet in the ceiling and ran a 50ft HDMI cable through the wall from my entertainment system.

When discussing projectors, noting the lumens is obviously important. But equally important is its contrast ratio. Get as high as you can afford.

No need for a stick anymore, a lot of’m now hv Andriod OS

I bought a used one off ebay and it was fine. Optoma hd141x. I would stay clear of ones with android in as most the android version cant be upgraded, easier to have a firestick hooked up which can be upgraded.

For buying the projectors . Try typing in estate sales near you . Some of these sales have electronics fairly cheap . Or try auctions . I use both and find some goid buys from both . Estate sales are good because you dont have to pay for shipping . The auctions just be aware of where they are . I live in IL i was biying stuff from auctions in CA . The shipping was sometimes double of what the item cost . No i only will bid on ones near me .

Thank you pabo and friends. I didn’t know about these wifi projectors until this past weekend, when I was invited to a Super Bowl party, and the host projected it on his wall. I had to get me one! The first place I thought of was TROYPOINT. And once again, you guys did not fail. You answered every question I had. Thanks for being here for me.

I’ve had 3 TV Projectors and returned 2 of them. Each one failed to recognize my USB drive. I plugged the Firestick back into my TV and no problem. Anyone have any idea why these projectors cannot see the USB drive? Thanks.
