Pop up called Trafficmonitizer

Howard do you delete a pop-up call “Trafficmonitizer”?

I am using a McCool box. When I rebooted the box the Trafficmonitizer pop-up appears. When I go back 2 clicks I can continue to my app. I have run an antivirus program without success.
I believe the pop-up only appears after I reboot the box.

James, it might be an idea to add a bit of context i.e. device, OS and what are you doing when this pops up?

You sure it’s traffic and not traffmonitizer? If the later it should be pup.traffmonitizer . A potentially unwanted program. Although it’s in the playstore and is a money making app. It uses your unasigned or idle bandwidth.

So how do I delete it?

Go into your apps find it, delete it. Or get a file explorer like X-plore and find the offending app and delete it. You may want to try Malwarebytes free. I’m afraid you’ll have to do some research as cleaning this crap isn’t often easy and I can’t give precise instructions as I gave up on MeCool a long time ago.

I have searched my apps over and over without success. Frustrated.

Try a file explorer. Try installing the free Malwarebytes and run the scanner. It should remove it.

Does Malware work on an Android box?

This is an app that uses your idle network to make money. It isn’t actually considered a “malware” as at some time or other it had to be given “install” permission. However it is considered a PUP (potentially unwanted program) . So yes it can work on all platforms.

I tried SD Maid, a File Browser, and at least 2 other apps designed to look at file and apps. All too no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks for your response.

Yes Malwarebytes free. Install it and run a scan.

You can always do a factory reset and reload one at a time to find the problem.
