Pluto TV M3U Playlist is Extensive Copyright Infringement According to MPA

The MPA recently sent a DMCA notice to Github Inc demanding that they remove the Pluto M3U Playlist from their servers.

What’s next? Tubi is not legal? MPA is a joke these days.

Unless the m3u in question has written permission from the source. Then said m3u is illegal. Doesn’t matter if the app is free for use by anyone or not, the m3u was made without getting proper permissions.

That’s why I said to someone who asked which m3us are illegal and I responded by saying, “all of them”.

Pluto m3u is done. No more streaming from that source. Speculate SONY or Samsung was re streaming a lot of Pluto tv as that is also down

Tubi still works on m3u.

pluto is included w my iptv provider…netflix, peacock are also included

I’m no genius but… How can you claim copyright infringement on something that is free? Unless PlutoTV started charging money and I didn’t notice. Probably just mad that people are getting the streams without all the additional ad traffic.

Yeah it’s kind of like getting an infringement letter after watching one of these cop shows that broadcasts free on a major broadcast station and then they turn around and send me infringement letter because I watched it on St r e m i o!

Pluto makes money thru ad revenue based on number of views. Viewers not using the app don’t count. Enough m3u usage can affect that revenue.
Just because Pluto is free doesn’t mean content is always free access to Pluto.
Revenue Sharing Agreements between Pluto and copyright holders are avoided with m3u usage…and so on.

Exactly what i was going to say.

The easiest way to find out the “why” is to follow the money. If your click isn’t counting towards their ad revenue then they take action.

Or a DVR!
