Plex media server and VPN

I have successfully installed Plex on my Mac and windows 10 laptop. Am able to stream content from both but only if IPVanish is off! I am concerned about security and am wondering if my ISP can see what I’m streaming to my Firestick. Any info please. Thanks.

Your ISP can identify the use of a VPN, but not your activity while the VPN is active. Without a VPN the ISP will be able to get data on your streaming activity on the firestick and also internet activity if using a browser App.
You can restrict that info to a minimum by changing some security settings. There is a video from Troypoint somewhere that should direct you through that process.

Thanks for the reply. It is disconcerting that my ISP can see what I do on my firestick. I will look for the video you mentioned. Thanks again.

I have a Windows 10 computer. I have Plex Media server installed & am using Surfshark VPN. When I have the VPN enabled and I try to enable remote access it’s not working / says it’s not available. I have tried setting the Bypasser settings, but that is not working.

I would like to keep Surfshark up and running for everything on this PC except the Plex Media Server. Can someone help me understand how to configure this in Surfshark? Are there other settings that I need to make somewhere?

Thanks.

I have A plex Server encrypted and I don’t need to use VPN but they don’t see the data, but sees the bandwidth your sucking
