enable adb (also Developer

Find IP for firestick (Settings>My
Fire TV>About>Network) and add it
to adblink2 (In the space that says
IP:port)
‣connect and allow computer on
the firestick (The adb app will likely
tell you the connection was denied.
Click the box on the firestick screen
then click “connect” again on the
adb app)
‣ once connected press the adb
shell button
Type this in:
appops set ar.tvplayer.tv
SYSTEM_ALERT._WINDOW allow
You should then be able to go
into the Tivimate app and enable the option

Troypoint has a video explaining how to use the ADB Shell app. This video is using an Onn UHD device, but the ins for setting up ADB are the same on a new 2023 4K Firestick. Prior to watching, please make sure to “turn on” ADB debugging from the Developer options in the Firestick settings.

The video can be found here👇
:point_right:Video:point_left:

  1. Fast Forward the video and start watching at ADB portion. Time left on the video will say “12:56”
  2. Once you activate :white_check_mark: ADB debugging, enter in the following command below  (time left on the video will say “11:55”).

adb shell pm grant ar.tvplayer.tv android.permission.SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW

  1. Now you can go back into the TiviMate settings under “General” and toggle on.

Thanks for the info. This worked for me:

appops set ar.tvplayer.tv SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW allow

Hi all,

With my Firestick, I’m using a VPN.
I cannot tick the following option on the VPN: “Connect on boot” which is a problem as I’d like my VPN to launch automatically when I start my Firestick.

I cannot tick the option because I get the following message:“Allow display over other apps” .

I checked in Settings section of the Apps in the Firestick and I cannot see the option to allow that.

Do you know where I can select this option please ?

Thanks a lot

What VPN are you using. Find it in your apps and then check for permissions.

I’m using VPNAC.com .
No, this option is not in the settings of the VPNAC App.

Hi,

Thanks for adding this post to the existing post for Tivimate.

I understand that the suggestion is to install ADB and then to pass the command.
For Tivimate, the command was: " appops set ar.tvplayer.tv SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW allow"

What is the correct command to pass in my case please ?
I suppose I need to change the app that goes after set command but not sure what to indicate. Is it an the url of the VPN App? That’s quite strange.

Thanks

A few resources that will give you help on various devices you have the VPN on. The last one is the reddit and the adb stuff. GL2U

You may also want to try enabling the developer options and go in there to find the display over setting to enable.
