PIA Reliability

Greetings,

PIA is having a sale for 3 years + 3 month for $79 … how reliable is it for privacy ? since it’s based in the US.

Cheers,
Marko~

Headquartered in the U.S: PIA’s Denver headquarters means it’s part of multiple international surveillance alliances, so the company has obligations to share customer data with the government when necessary.
Mixed customer support experience: We got quick responses from the company sometimes, but other times, we had to wait for days.

Miki, your point is taken from this review. Private Internet Access VPN Review: Solid Privacy With Setbacks However, the review also points out that PIA does not log usres’ IP addresses etc. If that’s the case, what’s the concern?

“When you connect to PIA, the VPN encrypts your internet data and hides your IP address, making it hard for trackers, advertisers and criminals to target you. PIA takes its security a notch higher by ***operating on a 100% strict no-logging policy that disallows PIA from collecting and storing your IP address, browsing history, connection logs, bandwidth consumption, DNS queries and VPN session timestamps. PIA’s no-logging policy has been tested and proven by the court multiple times.”

Marko, I have been using PIA +5 years. Never had issues with it. Pricing is reasonable. I also like it’s key icon that sits on top of the screen like VPN Monitor to indicate it is running.

PIA , like ExpressVPN, are part of the Kape Technologies group of VPNs. Kape also owns Cyberghost VPN.

Kape has a sketchy history, as they were previously a company known for associated with producing malware under a dba Crossrider.

Kape claims they will allow for their VPN subsidiaries to run independently - maybe why PIA runs out of US, Express out of BVI, and Cyberghost out of Romania.

Oh I know about the logs. I was just pointing out the concerns that may be worth reading up on. Pros and cons of an issue should be read for an all round idea of good and bad. Oddly enough this isn’t one I’ve personally tried just because of a multitude of concerns. I’m glad it works for you as it should and naturally pros and cons must be taken with a grain of salt.

Have they implemented a kill switch on Android TVOS yet?

PIA works very well. Im using it currently. Shows a key when its connected on your devices. I dont understand the problem with people and VPNS… There are like 10 top vpns and they do the same and are priced almost the same. My advice is pick one of the top vpns on sale get your 2-3 year discount, at the end of service switch to another one with a discount and keep rotating out. Unless your current vpn gives you a nice little discount or something for staying on. All you need to do is protect your data from viewing things out side the big tech crap.
