I would definitely turn a vpn off when trying to download an official app.
I also wouldn’t use a vpn when using an official app unless you are trying to access geo locked content.

Hi all… I’ve been having the same problem trying to re-install Paramount + after off-loading the app a while back on my Fire Stick 4K Max (Gen 1 v7.7.0.4). When clicking on the app icon to re-install the app, I would get kicked back to my home screen (I’m using Projectivy btw). I tried all the above suggestions with no luck. I even completely un-installed the app, and it still would not download/ install.
I then went through all my settings and found the Auto Download setting in Settings>Applications>Appstore>Auto Download. This setting (as the name suggests) “Downloads the app automatically when you select the app or content from it.” I had this turned Off.
I also changed the Developer setting for Projectivy at Settings>My Fire TV/Developer Options>Install Unknown Apps from Off to On.
After changing both settings from Off to On, and before trying to download/re-install the app again, I re-started my stick (overkill maybe, but I did it anyway). After re-starting and selecting the Paramount + icon, Voila! I was taken to the download screen and downloaded the app only. I have Spectrum which includes Paramount+, plus a few more at no charge. I had to login again since I had un-installed the app previously, and my off-loaded info must have been deleted.
So all good now! Not sure which setting may have worked, since I did both at the same time, but I’m back in business! Sorry for the long winded post. Hope this helps those who were having problems. Stream On!
P.S. I also had disabled Projectivy and went back to the stock launcher, and Paramount + would still not download. So I don’t think changing the Developer setting for Projectivy had any affect on not being able to download the app. Changing the Auto Download setting to On probably did the trick…
