Steps to prevent according to troy is to use antivirus and a good vpn. Antivirus yes, but vpn will not do anything against malware? Is that right? Thanks

Edit. Those are just 2 of a few things to try

Well a VPN certainly will prevent a device from getting malware, as all communication with a device is encrypted and targeting a specific device is impossible. However if a device comes preloaded with malware I doubt a VPN will prevent it. I should note that although the vpn does help prevent a system fom getting malware, as it prevents the malware from using it’s gate/port to phone home, you should still use a good malware scanner.

Troy reported: “over-1-million-android-tv-boxes-infected-by-vo1d-malware”

Yes, my firesticks no longer work on either tv. TV doesn’t even select the input anymore and the firestick won’t open at all. Major pisser. Is there any solution or order new stick?

@h4hunnybun download cc cleaner here

CCleaner MOD APK (Pro Unlocked) 24.18 build 800010832 | APK4Free

Thank You

You’re saying that you can not make the tv select the hdmi port that the firestick is plugged into? Maybe unplug the firestick then see if the tv will select that port. Press select and play on your fire stick for approximately 10 seconds to restart it. This might get your fire stick working again. Also sometimes the remote just locks up, usually taking batteries out for 30 seconds or so gets them unlocked.

Tks, but that’s not the problem. I can now see the firestick logo, but it won’t open; just black screen; pretty much not the input. I’ve changed it, restarted modem, tv and firestick. It just died. Guess I need new one.

Have you tried entering recovery mode? This should be possible if you see the logo.
Press and hold Back and right side of the navigation circle together for 10 seconds.
On the TV screen, choose to continue or cancel the factory reset. If you don’t choose, the device resets automatically after several more seconds.

I know they can run hot, I modified my old ones when I used them, took apart and drilled holes in the outer cover for ventilation, made m work much better, as in not getting hot and acting up/freezing etc.

Here’s what I did following these instructions. Lol. Was fun.
