OTA channels on Buzztv x5

Would it be possible to somehow run my ota channels through my buzztv x5? I have a sub but there are a few ota channels it does not have, Plus I would not have to switch inputs back and forth. I use Tivimate. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks I will try this out. Is it just the regular Plex app?

You set up the Tuner on your Plex Server App, then you can watch everything through the standalone Plex apps.

Thanks guys you are the best!

If you dont want to mess with plex and have a tv network tuner, the live tv app by google works well and even allows recording(shield im sure of).

I was just looking at the Plex links and it is kind of intimidating. Do I need to buy a tuner? Is the app called live tv? Sorry but I am venturing out of my comfort zone.

Leaving work now but will check back when I get home. Not being rude for not replying just gotta get out of here!

There are YouTube vids on the setup. I’m not sure if TP has a vid or not.

Yes you need a network tv tuner with an ota antenna hooked to it and on your network. With that setup than any(most) apps that work with tuners will pick them up such as plex, emby and jellyfin or more simple apps such as live channels which is a free google app.

Yeah, you’ll need a tuner and antenna to get the local channels. It isn’t just Plex, you will need that for any OTA setup. The other option for local channels is paid IPTV. In my opinion (and the reason I have both), is for safety reasons. I have an antenna in my attic, tuner on my computer (server) and run my locals through that. Regardless of what happens in the unverified IPTV world, I know that I will always have this to use and fall back on if needed. But yea, it takes some effort and upfront cost to accomplish.

I have one of those cheapy indoor flat (plastic) antennas and I pick up plenty of locals even here in the hills of Tennessee.

Who woulda thunk…lol

Is Knoxville where you get locals or somewhere in Kentucky???

Do you know anything about that Airtv thingy. Somewhere in these threads this was mentioned along with a hd antenna with some other server hook up.

I have one, and its in a box somewhere. Its used for local tv and to mix it with sling. Dont bother. Get an hdhomerun tuner and be done.

AirTV

Stream the free local channels you love right from your Sling guide when you set up an AirTV device and an OTA antenna. Simply pair the two with your favorite streaming device, the smart TV Sling app, or the Sling mobile app.

Connect an OTA antenna directly to your TV to check for OTA channel availability in your area prior to purchasing an AirTV device**

Try these steps to see if you can get an OTA signal with an antenna:

If you’re unable to get local channels with your OTA antenna connected to your TV, it is unlikely that you will be able to use an AirTV device to stream local channels. AirTV devices rely on utilizing the signal received from a connected OTA antenna.

To be honest I decided about 6 months ago to take a trial year run with the ChannelsDVR server and I might just keep it :joy:… sadly its $80/year but its so cool, recording local and my iptv sub with commercial detection and skipping, im addicted to it. So easy to get going I would recommend it to anyone not too savvy with network setup and just want to get down to bizness
