It’s funny how reports of privacy-invasive services like these are written by journalists for a quick reader count boost due to uproar. (Not referring to Troy, but to the linked Futurism.com article!)

These days, privacy should never be assumed to be a given. Privacy is something you explicitly pay extra for, it has turned into its own market niche. Privacy protection laws have been “circumvented” for a long time and big companies can do as they please. The days where only the data actually necessary to offer you the service was collected are long gone.

Don’t tell anything to your “trusty” AI assistant that you wouldn’t also publicly post for anyone to see on the internet. Operating under that assumption and setting realistic expectations is the best way to prevent nasty surprises when the next inevitable data leak comes around.
