Open dns to block updates Amazon via router

So am trying to use my router to block Amazon update websites. Trouble is my router only blocks http websites. It does not block https websites.

Further research shows that I may have to set up OPENDNS as my default dns search address. And of course set it with my dynamic address reported to OPENDNS so that everything works. OPENDNS can block Amazon https websites.

Did this years ago. Problem is the first time my dynamic address changes and I do not update on OPENDNS my internet connection will crash.

What a PITA to block Amazon updates on firestick devices.

easiest way is to get an android device :astonished:… most built in blockers by default will not block amazon mainly because amazon web is big, really big and owns so much of the infrastructure its almost futile. Best block if possible is at the box itself.

Might have to agree. If it takes me several hours to tune and test, might as well get an Android generic tv box and run it.
