I was looking for the topic I had posted relating to my Onn tv box not getting wi fi , to thank the guys that tried to help me. It seems to be working ok now. It may have been because of a service issue that was in the area where I live. I won’t go into detail about what I did unless someone is interested.
I read Troy’s review of the Onn updated tv box. I already have on that I wasn’t using because of internet issues. So I connected it again just for the heck. It updated to android 10. But it is still giving me the same issue I already had. For some reason, it only works using a ethernet connection. It will not connect to the internet via wireless. Does anyone know of a fix for this issue.
Pretty sure they’ve always had android 10 but there was an update patch in early Jan of 22. As far as not connecting to your wireless…as long as your wireless is working on other devices…there is only one toggle for on & off in the network & internet settings…so if your router is putting out 2.4 or 5GHz then it should pick it up. Are you even seeing your home network in the network settings of the box?
It is a shot in the dark, so don’t know if it will work, but have you tried unplugging the ethernet cable and then trying wifi?
I think I read a post where someone had the same problem and it couldn’t connect wirelessly unless ethernet was unplugged.
Copy that Quincy…if he’s connecting with ethernet on an ONN 4k…he’s using an ethernet adapter cable, because there aren’t any extra ports of any kind on that box. On my MeCool box I have ethernet plugged in & wifi toggled ON…but ethernet will take precedence until I unplug it…then wifi will take over. I
I have been trying different settings, but no luck. I didn’t even plug the ethernet cable in until I had tried the wi fi set up several times. I had this onn box for quite awhile before this update ever came out. I stopped using it for this same reason. I only started trying again after I read Tpoints review and updated the box. I thought that might allow the wi fi to work.
@JesseB Is your home wifi network showing up in Network & Internet in your ONN settings…it’s the 1st thing in General Settings….please look & let me know. Whatever you named your wifi should be at the top of the list when you click Network & Internet…as it will be the strongest signal.
I just posted a email relating to what I did and telling you guys thanks for your help. I had a service outage in my area where I live for a whole day, When they got it fixed i could not sign in to my network for wireless. I got mad and unplugged my ethernet cable. I use a box similar to a ipvanish box. I unplugged it, and reset my cable modem. I plugged my locator box back in, but still couldn’t get my wireless going. I signed in to my cable company with my user account and modem password as though it was new. Then the wi fi started working.
So your ONN box is picking it up now? If so… ![]()
Here.
Glad it’s working.
Yes sir: Thank you for your help.
