Just bought the new Onn4k box for a new TV on the patio. I have a coax for the antenna in the attic I use for all my TVs and an ethernet cable from the router as well. I installed a Denon soundbar to the Samsung TV. Now…I can’t get anything to play through the soundbar. I wanted to use HDMI but not dice. Even tried the optical cable but still no dice. I finally got it to play through bluetooth, even though that is not the optimal setup.
Anyone have any suggestions on being able to play through HDMI? Connections are HDMI Arc on TV to soundbar and HDMI from Onn to TV.
I’m thinking an hdmi from soundbar to tv and hdmi from 4k to tv would allow sound. Try playing with the inputs on tv.
I have an optical to tv from soundbar and it works great. Tv controls bar.
Make sure the bar is on the correct input. Mine is OPT.
In tv sound settings Sound out should be set to HDMI ARC.
Digital sound output should also be set to pass through.
ARC or eARC depending on tv should be enabled.
Then android devices should be set to sound over HDMI.
Also if you have a pcm setting on you android device that should be set to HDMI.
Some soundbars you can connect the device directly to it if it has HDMI ports available.
Just a shot in in the dark @dougblinn, but have you tried different HDMI cables to rule out a bad one …the cable that comes with the Onn ain’t one of the better ones out there…might just get lucky with a simple fix…
