.onn box seems to turn itself on and download gigabytes of data ON ITS OWN.
One advantage of having a newbie enero network was I could pause devices access to the internet. I saw that my gen1 .onn box had been downloading hundreds of MBs of data/day even when “off”. So I ensured it was off and paused access.
Lo n’ behold, days later I saw it had turned itself on and downloaded 200-400 MBs/day. So as always when I don’t trust a device, I used it. I watched 1 1/2 episodes of a 1hr show @1080 on a side loaded .APK streaming app. And boom, it had sucked up 900+ MB that day
What could be going on here??? Or please direct me to a similar thread?
Thanks all
Download or stream? If you download that, your device will be full in no time. I think it’s streaming or WORSE, some rogue app is allowing or sharing your device but usually they ask you if you want no adds and will act as a peer to peer. I chose ads.
No app should be taking over your device unless it’s viral typically. If you have a bandwidth limit and are subject to charges and it’s really downloading or streaming a lot without you invoking it, I would try to isolate it and remove it. You don’t need that hogging your resources either way as it will only impede your streaming.
Thank you too Wizard, you are right. Fortunately no restrictions limits or throttles, that’s why I didn’t see it before. But I’ve uninstalled everything I can. If it keeps it up I’ll do a factory reset. Then, I’ll dump the $20 box. But it won’t beat me, fer sure. Can’t have this Scheiße now can we…
That $20 box is pretty much the only one I use now. I runs much better than any of my Firesticks ever did. Talking about that, I just noticed my FS Max screen is black … so … I will try and reset it although I really can’t see putting everything on I had before. Maybe a version of Kodi since that will take all the memory it has
Thanks so much, all.
Indeed, I switched out my other $60 box for this .onn box.
However, there is an issue. Screen goes blue, no response to the remote. As soon as I touched the box it came back. I will switch out HDMI; the power cable can’t be disconnected from the adapter. I will see if I can replicate and determine if it’s cables or box. So far seems to be cables.
