I have a Google 4k Streaming Box and I have used an OTG cable to add an external mini keyboard that works very well. I have tried to add a mini keyboard to my Google 4K Pro by putting the dongle into the USB port on the device, but the keyboard will not work. Is there something I can do to make the keyboard usable? Thank you for any help.

If I remember correctly this has to do with the USB debugging, same as on the Shield Pro. In order for the Dongle to work you have to turn off USB debugging. Don’t quote me on that I don’t have any ONNs but I remember reading about this issue when the Onn Pro first came out. Give that a try.
Thanks, Miki. I tried turning on USB debugging, no success. I then tried it with a reboot, still no success. When I turn on the keyboard, the blue light on the keyboard comes on (as it does when all is well), but a blinking yellow light also comes on, that seems to indicate trouble. The same keyboard works just fine on the 4K and also on a Firestick.
Ya I think the USB debugging has to be off. Not sure why the dongle isn’t working. Sorry.
I did see that someone else said they had to turn off USB Debugging and Developer mode and then reboot and the Onn then recognised the mini keyboard with dongle.
I assume that you do have the Onn in pairing mode to set the keyboard up?
It has a dongle so shouldn’t need to be paired. But I’m far from an expert.

Thanks again, Miki. I had tried with the USB debugging on and off, rebooting for each, but no success. But when I turned off Developer Options, the keyboard worked like magic. Thank you again. Success!!!

Ya but now I have to find out why the developer options, being on, stop the keyboard communicating with the dongle unless there is a USB debugging option enabled by default in the dev options. Damn OCD.

I need to order a keyboard for my Onn. I have two OTG cables although it seems one doesn’t want to fit, at least when I tried it in my FS. Debugging had to be turned off as my device could not see the USB stick anymore. That being said, the stick died and I’ve not yet set it up on either Onn.

May I suggest using a Bluetooth keyboard with USB charging. Mine works beautifully.
Do you have a link for your BT keyboard?
