I have successfully install either VLC or MX Player on my latest generation ONN 4K and have enabled all settings but they just will not play. Just Player video works great as well as built in video players on the apps I have.
But VLC, MX Player will not.
Any ideas?
I use MX player as directed by Troy, working fine on my onn boxes
Where did you download MX Player from and what settings did you set on the ONN box?
I downloaded from various places and I continually get the same problem. They do not run.
I have had and continue to own several android boxes over the years so I’m pretty tech savvy but this problem is baffling.
makes sure you have set permissions for file access
Yes I set for full file access on both apps. Still not working.
not sure, after your question I installed it on my new tablet and no problem. I no longer have the onn box to test but maybe someone else here can give it a try.
Yes no problem on another android device, it is just this media box.
Ah well can use Just Player and the built in video players in the apps.
I have the same problem on my Onn, in fact I think I like my firestick better. I installed MX plaer but nothing. I’m starting to think it’s me. I also had a problem with Wolf Launcher. It locked up everything and I had to do a factory reset. Where did you find Just Player. I will try that.
It’s in the Google Playstore, or
Funny behaviour eh? Just Player you can get from Google pay store or pretty well any other supplier of android apps. It works well. Easy to work with on the play screen.
Ok, just thinking here, and could be waaay off, but even if installed correctly and all permissions are right,…don’t you still have to choose the player you want to use?
Thank you for the information.
I don’t have to all the time. Not sure how that all works…Usually I don’t have an issue.
Yes in a app for viewing movies, tv shows you can select either MX Player, VLC, etc. Unlike other media boxes I have used over the years this ONN box prevents me from doing so.
The players provided buy and are part of an application are usually basic players where using it is not as nice as using a outside player. Better layout of controls for subtitles selections, screen sizing, etc.
I certainly can still use the ONN box with those two not available to me.
I have not loaded too much onto the Onn and I did just manage to get another one for backup. The only app so far that won’t work properly yet is Ocean Streamz so far.
I have both and both do fine.
That’s good. I’m just making do with what I have now.
Thanks for responding.
Don’t know which ones you are trying but some apks do not allow external players like tea tv for example.
Yes I was trying to run VLC and MX Player on my new ONN 4K box. But for some odd reason they won’t run. I’m very experience on various media boxes I have used over the years so I know about Android settings to make being in developer mode.
Just Player works great as well as players included with media apks installed.
Doesn’t matter now as I’m doing just fine with what is installed on the box successfully.
Thanks for the comment.
Exactly same problem with both VLC and MXPro as described. Tried repeatedly from different sources. Same results. Play all movies and TV shows with Closed Captions, and use VLC on all other streaming devices, and love it.
I’ll try Just Player. Built in players in the apps ok for non CC play. but unacceptable for use with CC.
