Is Dr. Web a Russian based company in Moscow? That’s me out.
i think so, at least thatz what it looks like on the web site…
It seems to be safe by Google Play Store’s Play Protect, but yes, this is a Russian person who developed it. Here is the developer’s website: Dr.Web Download antivirus for PC / Mac / Android (drweb.com)
Google Play has had malicious apps found quite often. For now anything Russian I’m giving a wide birth. Just my 2 cents.
Just because its Russian does not mean it’s bad. I hate when people do that. Any ANY app can be bad even from your own backyard, even if its on the playstore. You can hide it from the playstores detection and still get infected. Just an FYI, not saying anything bad but please keep this in mind. Be mindful of what you are downloading. But you don’t have to use it, that’s your choice though. Just making a point.
Like to point out TikTok… Stealing your data…
Can’t be any more suspicious than any other website, app, or download from China, India, or the USA. I did run all 5 of my virus checks on it and it is clean to my knowledge The app boasts over 10+ million downloads, but to each his own.
I figured you’d do a full scan. Just me and my dislikes. Never said it was bad. Just I don’t like taking chances personally. So I’ll stick to what I know. Glad it works for you. Sorry to offend you with my opinion @TP-Dracoo. But you are correct, any app can be bad. Not just Russian ones.
You didn’t offend anyone. Just wanted to make a point. All is fine.
Tx @TP-Dracoo. All good. Enjoy your day.

Here’s an update TDUK sent me regarding the next upcoming update.
Hey Greg
I was going to reply and say that both LM and the modded LM are included but then saw you were talking about the android TV version of LM
*I should have included that but incorrectly assumed the package name would be the same across Amazon / Google. *
I am out next week for 2 weeks so won’t get a chance to make any changes and I’m hoping after that I should be able to spend a week or so to get the new whitelisting working.
Will let you know if anything changes.
Thanks
TD
So if you bought this in the Google Play Store, you would have to buy it from Amazon too so you can get it on your FireTV devices?
Don’t think so. I believe he is saying the LM package is different for Android TV. So, I would imagine if you could download the Amazon LM app then the App Killer would exclude the Amazon LM app.
This is the LM package for Google: com.wolf.google.lm
This is the LM package for Amazon: com.wolf.lm
I don’t know if you can download directly from Amazon onto an Android device? However, you might be able to find a 3rd party download. Just make sure the LM package is com.wolf.lm
I guess what i was asking was if I bought the App Killer on the Google Play store, I dont think there is a way to get the paid version on an Fire device too without paying again for it. Or maybe I just havent thought of the way.
I bought from Amazon and then extracted off of cube to Proton drive and then sideloaded to buzzx5. So maybe just the opposite?
Here is a link to SweenWolf XDA page (last edited March 14, 2023): [APP][FIRETV][NOROOT] Launcher Manager (Change Launcher without Root) | XDA Forums (xda-developers.com)
The issue is not the App Killer. The issue is with which LM app you have. The App Killer will exclude (Whitelist) the Amazon App Store LM app, but not the Google Play Store LM app. His script is for package com.wolf.lm
If you downloaded the Launch Manager app, com.wolf.google.lm then the App Killer will not whitelist that app. You need to download the Launch Manager app with package com.wolf.lm This is the one the App Store has.
So downloading the App Killer app from Amazon will not make any difference, because the LM package you have is not the one he added script for.
The Google play store doesnt give you an apk though. It unlocks a dropdown of your Android devices and you click and it installs. Of course no FireTV devices on there. So who knows. I only use one, but was more asking for others who have a combination.
I doubt Amazon will have the LM app because they have blocked it from their devices. You will have to use a 3rd party download. I tried finding one with the com.wolf.lm package but they are not listed that way. So, the only option is to download check the package and if it isn’t the right one then uninstall and try again with a different download.
Or just wait until he gets back from his trip.
I am fine with it killing LM, my last question was just about if I purchase App Killer on Google Play (which i did) can i get app killer on a Firestick for no extra cost?
