i’ve noticed that older versions of android os work perfect to record with tivimate as the write permissions are there with system picker?
anything above android os 9 have very limited write permissions to external drives within tivimate as in it won’t record easily to external ssd or usb…i think that’s intentional? but…sparkle records perfectly on the newer os systems?
i went out and found a few t95z boxes that have android 9 0n them and they record perfect w tivimate as i load my virgin backup tivimate file with all my iptv providers to each box i test?
my X96max that i bought yrs ago because of troy’s recommend? has os 8.1 on it
freakin records perfect with tivimate and a 2TB drive…my GF has been using it for a couple of yrs and will snarl at me if i go near it…lol
try to find an older box that has the older os on it? basically can’t anymore because peep’s have gotten smarter about this?
why does everyone rush for the newest box and os? tivimate loves os 9 and under…try to find a box with that on it now…Nope…Comtech
whats the advantage of upgrading to the newest android os?
thx
I’ve always said android 9 was the best. After that google started making the android system “safer” . Later versions of android are easier to use networked storage but still a hassle.
I’m on Android 11 and have absolutely no problems recording with TiViMate. I use X-plore and have granted the necessary permissions as well as doing so through the System Picker on my Shield Pro. I set up a Samsung 256 SSD for the Olympics. I won’t use Sparkle as I have to use a google account and pay through them and I have to have the Play store stuff running while using it. I record stuff about once a year for special events, and then only because it’s live while I’m sleeping .
I rarely use them anymore since I’ve moved to my ONN 4K Pro and rarely have a need to record anything IPTV wise - maybe once or twice a year. BUT when I do I fire up my 7 year old T95Z Plus running Android 7 and it works perfectly. I have no idea what a system picker is? On Old Android it’s not needed!
I’m feeling the urge to create another very lengthy post about this
