Odd behavior with CinemaHD on Nvidia Shield

I have an older version of CinemaHD working perfectly on my FireTV Cube. I made a copy using ES File Explorer, transferred to my pc and then transferred to my Nvidia Shield. When I finish a stream on the Shield and back out I get some 5-12 second Tik Tok clips and it even opens the Google Play Store like I want to download Tik Tok. This never happened on the Cube. Must be something different between the Amazon OS and the Shield androidTV. I’ve tried disabling Google Play store before launching Cinema but I still get the clips but not the Playstore app. I have IPVanish so the Surfshark ad block won’t help. Virus scan shows no problem with the Cinema apk. And of course I know Cinema is going away and there are much better apk’s to use, blah, blah, blah. Unfortunately Cinema is my wife’s Go To for all streaming. Sigh.

Are you sure you dont have an ad-free version of Cinema on the Cube? It is strange it would act differently. An ad-blocker should help this, but if you have IPVanish you would have to find a separate ad blocker to put on the Shield.

Try the latest 2.5.0 beta version. No ads! And it works quite well as a back up app in case other movie apps dont have links. Or, you could also try Film+.

@AMD237 It is an ad free version on the cube. I assumed copying it would get me the same thing on the Shield. But it behaves differently.

@Dak7385 I had tried version 2.4.0 when it came out but had other issues with it. Mama is VERY tough to please once she gets set in her ways. We do have several alternate options on both devices. I use two or three of them. She sticks with Cinema. If Cinema don’t get it she will try BeeTV.

As far as an ad blocker I thought I read where most good ones will not work with a vpn?

@Randath. Well, as I said, the 2.5 beta ( analytic) version works well without ads.
Perhaps, give it a try.

I still don’t like to recommend using the ad-free version because of the questions surrounding this apk, but if you already have had good luck with it on the Cube can you try and go to the original source and load it again? I wonder if the copy over to the Shield messed with the mod version.

@AMD237 . Interesting comment. What questions over the apk are you alluding to? Be grateful for any information.

This app has been dead and supposedly switched developers at least a couple of times, if not more. The safest way to use Cinema is to download the apk directly from their website. Using Surfshark is a bonus because it give you an ad free experience while using the genuine version. The modded versions of Cinema are just too risky for what the program is worth, in my opinion. But as always, everyone is free to do what they want.

Yeah, I don’t get it. Why mess with an unknown and potentially adverse app. When there are more and better alternatives to choose from…even FREE ones.

I could not find the version I have on the cube that didn’t have a ton of red flags on a virus scan. And the 2.4 version that came out late last year off the “official” Cinema site also had virus issues. Whoever took it over has let it go downhill. So I understand the advice to stay clear. Some day Cinema will go completely dark and then I’ll have the daunting task of converting her then.

Just to clarify my answer to the OP.

I was not recommending Cinema per se. I was suggesting an alternative version for the OP to try, if he really needed Cinema HD for his wife.

I welcome the information from @AMD237 on the perils of using this app, hence my question to him, for the OP to take on board. And for other members to be aware of, including me.

I am not telling anyone not to use Cinema. I simply recommend using the genuine version of this app, directly from their website.

Understood. Thank you.:+1:

I can not get Cinema connected to Real-Debrid on my Nvidia Shield or Amazon Onn android unit. Anyone having the same pro

Are you using the most up to date, genuine version of Cinema? Is your Real Debrid expired? Have you re-authorized it? Deleted it from “My Devices” on the RD website?

FYI just authorized in on my Shield, works fine and finding premium sources.

Have tried different versions of Cinema as well as other movie apps and none of them connects to RD. RD recognizes the app no problem, but Cinema does not finish with recognizing RD, something to do with API? Kodi has no problem with connecting to RD. I do not have any problems on Amazon FS etc, just on Android devices. Always use latest updates of Android software. Is it possibly a setting within Android software?
