Nvidia Shield remote's MUTE button

I just learned that pressing the up and down buttons simultaneously on the Nvidia shield remote will mute the volume. Press either up or down button to resume. Maybe I’m the only one, but…

Yea I discovered that by accident some time back :grimacing:

It worked! But a horrible way to have to mute.

I used button mapper to make my Netflix button the mute. Game changer for me. Lol

I had no idea you could do that! Button Mapper (or TV Quick Actions Pro) would give you a one handed mute, so that would be more convenient lol. Thanks for posting!

There is a one handed way. Just go into Settings>Remotes & Accessories>Customize Menu button>now here there are several ways that you can play with, for me I chose Mute volume for the Double press option. There are 3 basic options Short Press/Hold/Double Press with a bunch of sub options- 19 to be exact.

Lots of options for the mute button in this short thread. It has been very helpful. I think the double menu button mute is my favorite option.

I cannot stand that triangle shape. I don’t know how I did it but turning on the never shield first thing in the day I had hit the button three times and when the screen came on I had deleted my playlist! Thankfully I had a backup in Tivimate! :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I am using the Alexa pro Remote which has a dedicated mute button. Its also more convenient for me after year of Fire stick use.

Did the same with the Netflix button, Long Press = Mute, Short Press = VPN. Used to have Double Press = Projectivy, but I unistalled Projectivy many months ago in favor of another custom launcher and have it set to always boot on device start.

I just went through the Tivimate settings and mapped the rewind button as mute. Haven’t really needed a mute button for any other apps so far if I can just pause the video.

If you press the up, down, mute, home buttons at the same time it plays Led Zepplin

Seems like you had a post or series of posts of which launcher you use and how you set it up if I recall right?

Yep, I have mentioned it before. Custom launchers are like pizzas. All are personal preferences.

I like my custom launcher UI, but tbh, I am rarely on it but for the brief seconds needed to open an app. At present I have my setup to auto boot TV, Soundbar, and Tivimate, to my morning news show and auto play at 6:00 A.M. every morning. So, unless I want to open Syncler+ or other apps I don’t even go to my home page at all until I close down at the end of the day. Most times I go all day without even going to my home page. I can open any app I want while I am still watching TV on Tivimate just by a double click on my settings button on my remote. Also, I tend to use my provider’s VOD to find a movie first before I open Syncler or such.

So, tbh, if you have Tivimate set to auto open on device start. Then you really have no need for any custom launcher. However, they are nice to putz around on and dazzle the minds of less techie people. lol

I agree. Although I still put projectivy on most devices, I do so without much customization because as you said…I don’t really spend much time there anymore and now its just to cover up the google bloat.

I know we are getting a bit off track here, recently projectivity launcher has stopped changing screens.I have checked everything I can think of but for whatever reason it will only stay on one screen theme unless I manually change it.Any tips?

I should add that I have it set to reddit then subreddit earth as an example.

usually its a permissions issue and make sure its granted accessibilty.
