Nvidia shield external storage

I have the Nvidia Shield Pro with a Scandisk 1tb SSD.
I formated the SSD to ntsf.
I then set the SSD up 50/50 internal and external.
I can not get TiviMate to set a folder on the extenal SSD for recordings.
I switched to internal ssd storage.
I was able to get TiviMate to save the location.
But when I record it looks for 2 minutes and stops.
Any ideas on what I’m doing wrong?

When I used to set up the way you are trying what I did was put the ssd on my pc, format to ntfs, eject from pc, re insert and open and create a folder of your choosing, example tivi.recordings. Eject and place in shield, make sure the file manager you use can see it, make sure its listed in settings>storage as external storage. All things looking good go into tivimate>>> recordings and direct that to your new folder.

That is exactly what I did. It shows up in the settings, storage external. But TiviMate finds it but will not select it. So I selected the internal folder but it still will not record to it. I even reinstalled TiviMate. Thinking I might have another issue.

try setting usb to mtp instead of charging in developer settings. The shield has multiple usb settings, dig into the settings and permissions. often system picker is needed to select recording media.

have you tried the “System Picker” in Tivimate. Try it and see where the folder is formed.

Recording is a hit and miss in Tivimate maybe 55% succeeds I hear it from my GF everyday it does it on many devices that I’ve own I think you might have better luck with a Mac service ID IPTV service more stable… But I stopped mac ID a few years ago

I forgot to mention this and don’t know if you are even aware of this Nvidia feature, but you can record straight from Nvidia by selecting (long press) the home button and then record. The recording was saved to my X-plore in the Game Recording folder. I recorded over 2 hours of programing off of Tivimate. The recording does not show in the Tivimate app or in the X-plore Tivimate folder.

I played the recording back and it played flawlessly. You can ONLY record what is actually showing on the screen, but you can surf and change channels and the recording goes on. So, I guess you could record in multiple screen mode and have how many ever screens you have on being recorded.

The Nvidia recording is independent of Tivimate. So even buffering or any other issue will not interrupt what is being recorded. Also, I would believe you can turn off your TV and still will record if you leave the device on. Also, I didn’t see any setting that would allow for programming a recording.

Anyway, it’s just something you may like to take a closer look at.

Oh, btw, this 3+ gig recording did go to my external storage.

not to mentiom the shield can perform light nas server duties such as host plex, emby and channelsdvr, which is my method for recording. Personally ive never had an issue with recording on tivimate.
