Thats the problem. I tried to pair it again because the other remotes I had been using would not pair now. I forgot how to pair them.
I have 4 different remote controls and one new one. Since i factory restored my Nshield, none of them work properly. I canāt pair any of them because i canāt get to the right settings to pair them. The original remote doesnāt work. I donāt know why. I do know that this whole mess is getting to be a pain in the you know where. I am searching for a Troypoint tutorial that may help me get the right settings. I forgot that a factory reset is the same as starting all over again.

Did you try the phone app suggested by @Powerfader to connect to your Shield via wifi?

Thanks again people for all your advice. But after spending my days, and losing a lot of sleep time, I am going to give up. I am going to just go and buy a new box and start over again. Thanks again.
The Shield is due for a big update or already has. It will change the gaming part of their service. So not sure this has anything to do with your problem. Or maybe a fix?

I did a factory reset (what a *itch) last evening due to the fact one of my Tivimateās kept glitching. By glitching I mean every so often (but more frequent of late) something which I was unable to put my finger on, nor could the Tivimate support forum on Discord was causing an issue to crop up where out of the blue channels will show a still shot thereby rendering the screen with just a frame by frame on every channel. Clearing cache, data, force stop, un/reinstall Tivimate, 4.7ā¦5.0ā¦5.4 failed to eleiviate the issue therefore as a LAST resort I decided (not lightly mind you) to do a factory restore. 
The process, of course WAS NOT without hiccups or aggravating moments (during the 3 hour process) for instance right off the bat with healthy batteries the damn thing wouldnāt pair the remote and only did it succeed after the 3rd set of the same brand. STUPID. Second, trying to login to X-Plore file manager to restore my 'mates settings brought itās own challenges when I couldnāt get the remote to populate the numbers to fill with the confirmation code. Yep I had the Google companion app yet that wouldnāt communicate with the Shield til the Shield did all of its Play updates andddddd finally voice search failed to load without me denying and re-allowing itās permission on Tivimate and giving it a reboot. 
Yes it was the pain I figured itād be, weāll see if this solves the Tivimate issue. Would I do it again? Nope, Iād opt for an ONN instead.
