New Look at Antenna TV

Absolutely correct.

I have a similar type with the dipole antennas (RCA ANT1275). The main “flat” amplified antenna picks up the UHF signals, but you really need the dipole antennas to pick up the latent VHS signals. I’ve found these work better than the window-mounted flat amplified antennae. Although those work pretty well too once you find the sweet spot to mount them.

I have a friend that lives South of Indianapolis. He lives on a hill. He can receive at least a dozen or two channels from Indy, Louisville, and Cincy. He uses about a 30’ tower though.

The short front elements are for UHF (14 and up)and the larger rear elements are for VHF-Hi (7-13), but its not really designed for VHF-Lo (2-6) - need longer rear elements for that.

all 3 of my iptv providers have every local channel in the US?

The RCA has extendable antenna stretching out maybe 3.5’. Seems to work.

Yeah, my iptv service does also. But it’s handy to have the OTA, when for example, I’m getting close to my internet data limit. Or when I want to watch a sub-channel like 9.2 and don’t want to search all over the iptv channels to find it. I counted once and I think I had 32 devices connected to our internet…couldn’t believe it.

Mine has local channels but not all of them .

amberbaby’s 8k service has every local channel in the usa and canada…much better that her lower priced service and work’s great! no buffering at all for me!

Nice i wrote nice but it said its gotta be 10 characters

My IPTV provider has same. All broadcast channels, with the exception of some sub channels, and PBS. Really enjoy that aspect, as I travel for business and pleasure. I can familiarize myself with a locality before I get there. Easier to fit in with the locals.

I live in a narrow valley in NC PA. No TV OTA signals get into the valley. Have always had to rely on Cable, Big Dish Satellite or now streaming. Might barely get one channel, and it is PBS.

Unless you move out of the holler and up on the hill, it looks like PBS is your one OTA choice. But some good programming and news on PBS.

Unfortunately, this is a triangular valley. Depending where one sets in the hole, says what channels will be received. Must be in an “line of sight” to receive anything. I do receive the PBS local by streaming.

Guess I’m lucky that by chance there are no obstructions between us and the OTA transmission towers (maybe ten miles as the crow flies). But yeah, my iptv service also has all the local channels, but it seems like the OTA locals come in higher definition than the iptv locals usually (limited to 1080 I believe).

Yup, that’s exactly why this is a nice addition. Plus, there’s no delay on live events like there is with IPTV.

i have locals on my iptv service and they’re all in 1080P and look great

Most 1080p IPTV channels are at 30FPS. Not as great for watching sports.

Most of my sports channels are 1280x720 60FPS I hate 30 FPS for sports. Now getting more 4K sports as time goes on. Gotta love how quick this hobby is advancing tech wise.

Yup. I’ve spent a couple hours flipping through all of my IPTV local channels to find ones that are 1080p @ 60FPS. For one of the major networks, pretty much the only one I could find was out of Las Vegas. But it makes a difference if you’re looking for it.
