Formuler is in my top 2 for non-certified Android Box manufacturers and their new Z12 Ultra is here!
Here is my First Impressions Video for this new powerhouse that is now available exclusively for TROYPOINT Patrons.
I treat this a bit different than most First Impression Videos because I have good knowledge on how their previous devices work.
So, this video is more like a setup guide and First Impressions Video!
As a BONUS, I show how to setup the #1 ranked $2.67 Wholesale IPTV Service within the Formuler IPTV app (MYTVOnline3) since I know many of you Patrons are subscribed to this.
Note: I almost forgot to test 3rd party launchers in this video but remember toward the end so you will hear my closing but there is still more to come after that.
Awesome first impressions video with Strong 8K
Easy way to clean it up - request the content you need ( it’s smaller than what you don’t want).
There is a option to add a mouse on the remote to one of the programmable buttons.
I find that History is useful as a row on the home screen - you went the route of adding to Favorites but that was the way my friend wanted it on his device.
I forgot to check if Timeshift for live TV is on by default - on Z11 pro external memory was needed.
I wish we could add our favorite channels and VOD to Projectivy on all of our devices! But I think they would need to form a partnership with the various independent IPTV players such as TiviMate and Formuler (MYTVOnline3).
Love the review. I do wonder why these new boxes are so expensive though. Would love to see some reviews on boxes without any play store hooks that are better priced.
It is up to the Apps to support it, Projectivy already does with channels like with continue watching etc with Stremio or Plex etc.
Sparkle already has Recordings and Recent channels and can be turned on in Projectivy under edit channels. ImPlayer has Favorites and needs to be turned on in settings in Implayer under Android TV then under Projectivy edit channels The Icons may take work to make them pretty though; they are just blowups of the Channel logos.
No idea why the apps don’t put more work into this and allow customization, especially Tivimate which although great has been feature stagnant for quite some time.
$200 for this is expensive. I guess I’m a simple elcheapo that loves my ONN $20 box as it does everything I need. So easy to add extra storage and everything works well with my 200mb ISP download. I have a $20 ONN on 3 TVs and I couldn’t imagine spending $200 on 3 TVs.
I love Formuler devices. So far, what I’m seeing out of the Z12, I’m hoping that with it’s release, it will drive the Z11 prices down and I will purchase another Z11. I currently own a Z8 Pro, 2 CCs, and a Z11 Pro Max. It’s great to have the ability to integrate OTA local channels into MTOL.
Hello, the reason these non-certified boxes are more expensive is because they can’t rake in $$ like the certified ones do through commissions based on streaming services.
Kinda like the video game consoles. PlayStation and Microsoft sell their gaming systems at a loss knowing they will make up for it in games sold through the platform.
I’m sure this is same case for certified streaming devices. They are taking a loss up front but make up for it in the long run and that’s why Amazon keeps shutting down the various hacks.
It’s a combination of hardware / software and build quality.
Some look at raw specs and say this is overpriced.
MYTVOnline 3 is really good - integrated with remote for best user experience.
Build quality of remote / features make this a great choice for those who use it for IPTV,
I used to think Z11 pro (2GB ram / 16GB storage / ÂŁ129) was enough but for ÂŁ20 extra UK price, Z11 pro max (ÂŁ149) makes it the better choice because the 4GB ram / 32 GB storage made the user experience better.
Z12 Ultra (ÂŁ169) for another ÂŁ20 makes it a better choice 128GB storage, new back light remote and Dolby vision / atmos.
Some peeps feel Formuler devices are not worth the cash and can choose from many other good devices. For many Onn devices / Firesticks are perfect for their needs.
Don’t you think at this point, 4GB of RAM and “embedded” ROM of any size, is weak sauce? I personally feel like any device at this point, soliciting $200+ needs 8GB+ and an option for nVme and/or 2.5 SSD. I mean when you compare specs to a stick, out of the box they seem the better option, but with as tiny as components are made these days, I personally expect better specs. I am a fan of overkill. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it, is my opinion in all things in life. You can easily obtain a micro form factor PC chassis refurbished, get 32GB RAM, 8 times the storage, and just run blue stacks on it. On one machine, you have android and option for JellyFin or Plex, actual cooling, and processor that are better. I feel like China can do better than 4/128. The only thing these newer units are offering are potentially better visuals because of the Dolb Vision and HDR10+, that older units people may already own don’t have, and aren’t upgradeable via firmware or OTA updates.
I just would like to see hardware specs that are better than low end tablets at this point.
Agreed, would be nice to see 8GB but many argue that it won’t help with streaming apps…gaming yes but not necessarily streaming. This discussion as well as the 32-bit vs 64-bit comparisons can be found here.
