I was researching the parent company and found a page that shows the device is just $100 but couldn’t find a link to buy it, just an info contact.
No clue on where the best deal would be for this box. This really is for those who must have a google certified device with upper tier specs that rival the Nvidia Shield, Ugoos AM9 and AM9 Pro for about the same price.

That’s an interesting device for sure. The big question is how good the ATSC tuner will be. I currently have a zapperbox and it has the best tuner of any I have tried. Hopefully this Velo tuner will be on par with that.
No doubt, being a certified google device, there will be some limits on what you can access unless you tinker with the O/S. I prefer Ugoos and the AOSP O/S for that reason, given the similarity in specs with this box. The only real advantage I see to the MyVelo TV is the NextGen 3.0 antenna hookup option if you can get decent OTA channel signals. Since many of us here at Troypoint subscribe to IPTV services where you can freely access local channels on your box, there really isn’t an advantage.

Absolutely! Back on Sept 27th 2024 my family and neighbors learned just how valuable an ota tv signal can be! Helene tore these mountains up not only disrupting power, but also internet, and cell phone service. I had a generator and some deep cycle batteries and was able to connect my zapperbox and see and hear what was actually happening all around us. Many folks had nothing to connect to the outside world. It was like this for several weeks for many folks. Having a starlink dish for an emergency such as Helene is also advisable. After 8 days I got one and was able to at least get back on the internet.
I’m in Canada, we wouldn’t know what OTA signals are. TV stations are thousands of miles apart. Now HAM radio yes.
@Miki The same is true in many parts of the US. Indeed HAM radio is still the ultimate communication medium in SHTF situations.
Yea reception isn’t that great here for ota, but even if you can get 1 channel it’s worth it imo.
Local hunters with marine radios were able to communicate in many of these hollers.
True enough, but you can rig up a rooftop antenna with an amplifier direct to your tv to get available OTA broadcast signals without having to use your android tv box. Also, NextGen 3.0 signals are not widely available yet except in major metro areas and development has been very slow in rural locales, which are still using the 1.0 HD signals. You still need a good roof antenna no matter if you are using a tv tuner or a box for transmission.
@sim_bill A lot of people can get at least a few locals with one of those junky, rectangular so-high definition antennas propped up in a window. Roof top is the way to go if it’s an option, though.
I live in South Georgia and there are no OTA channels close enough to me to get even a bad signal. It sucks to hear about people getting multiple channels for free, but oh well.
