My Nvidia Shield and my Tv

I used to be able to turn my Shield and my Tv on at the same time using my Shield remote. Now when the tv comes on, it ask for the default connection. When I set the default connection, the nvidia box won’t come on. When I turn on the nvidia box the tv won’t come on. I never had this issue before. It may be a setting I have messed up, but I don’t know. Hope some one can help.

What is the default connection? Never saw that before.

Are you saying you cant get the tv and Nvidia on at the same time?

Do you have any other devices on that tv?

What about your tv source? Is it set to the correct hdmi setting?

I usually just touch down on the circle pad and my tv and Nvidia turn on. I never use the power button.

Have a look in settings>Display & Sound>Power control. First under Display & Sound, scroll to the bottom and enable HDMI-CEC Enable. Then go into Power control. Here I have all options enabled above the IR section. I never touch any IR settings.

Not sure what the issue is, mine works perfectly

That’s strange. My Nvidia shield and my tv have been together for a long time. I have never had this issue before. I When I want to test a new tv box, I can change the default setting on the tv. But that has never caused me a problem before.

Its been 2 weeks… have you tried what @Miki suggested? Can you explain what default setting is?

A little confused if your issue is the remote or the cec setup. But if ypu haven’t changed the cec it should still work the same.

I have tried what Miki said. It worked a couple of times then it stopped.

I just wanted to thank every one who tried to help me with my Nvidia shield issue. I can’t fix the issue, but I still wanted to thank every one that tried to help me. Maybe I need to get a new box. Thanks

I had a similar issue. I got a 55” LG led for the playroom. Turns out it was a setting in the tv update. I can’t remember the setting. If you do regular updates on your tv. Browse through those.
Good luck

Does your tv have multible hdmi in connections? if so try moving to another.

Absolutely excellent suggestion @TXRon . I do remember about a year ago there was another Insider who had the same issue and I had forgotten how we fixed it until your suggestion. For them it was the HDMI port that had somehow gotten an IO issue and would not work. For them what fixed it was disconnecting everything, and I mean everything, unplugging all power to every device, including modem/router, waiting for a few minutes, I think he waited for 10, and then plugged everything back in and starting it all up again. That seemed to clear some issue and the IO stack was suspected, and everything worked just fine again. May also be an idea to try.

Which Android box is the best to get besides “The Shield Pro” especially if I watch a lot of Netflix which is free with Comcast.

I want to get an upgrade for Christmas as my Shield freezes quite a bit when watching movies which is very annoying. Thanks for the sage advise!

This is for any Patron. I am still having issues with my NShield streaming box. Now the green light doesn’t even come on when I turn the box on. I just need a list of some decently priced streaming boxes. Thanks every body.

Try going into System >LED brightness
