If what @Cloaked mentioned above doesn’t work, I’m not sure how you are going to avoid a factory reset. What would be nice, though, is to know what caused it so you can try to avoid it after that. This is a real head scratcher.

On every 4k Max I’ve ever programmed in the Manage installed apps the Appstore icon has been a white square with black APPS letters and an orange Amazon smile. As one other person mentioned go into your “Manage Installed Applications” and start ever missing app from there and then shut it off and see if the app icon gets added back. This was a minor glitch last year in Nov on the Max sticks but an update fixed it.

Hi everyone! Just did an update on my firestick 4k (6 series) today and guess what…my recently viewed apps disappeared like Houdini 
on the home screen!! So I did a 
search on it…yes I unplugged the device, all side-loaded apps is still showing at top of home screen and I tried using them in the manage installed apps–
No luck whatsoever. Did Amazon buss a quick Left again when I was going Right??
But seriously have anyone had this problem yet?
