MX player subtitles can't be save or opened

This is beyond my limited knowledge. I have looked in Troypoint and on-line and cannot correct my problem. When my choices for subtitles appear there is a note at the bottom that reads: Can’t save files on your subtitle folder. Please check write permissions of/storage/emulated/0/Movies. There is “read more” link and it reads.(Please choose the root directory of your external storage(eg:usbcard1) on the following screen to grant MX player write permission). I am not using an external storage.
Just got the ONN tv box and followed Troys video and did not do the expanded storage part. What am I missing or not checking/unchecking. This was asked previously and it received no answer.
Went to MX Player website and it says: * Downloaded subtitles are supposed to be saved on 1) Folder containing video file or 2) Subtitle folder.

  • This message will be popped up if file can’t be saved on both folders. Please check if your subtitle folder is selected correctly on Settings > Subtitle > Subtitle folder.

I do not understand. I am way too old and was not raised on this tech. Thanks in advance.

You should now use the pro version

I am using the latest version of MX Pro

Also using the pro version with mostly success.
My problem is I cannot find a way to sync dialog to CC. Any suggestions?

Click on 3 dots in upper right corner>subtitles>synchronization. A box will open and you have +/- buttons. With these buttons you can advance or delay your captions.

Found them. Dots were out of screen frame and could not see. Is there a way to frame the screen to be able to see?

I have searched in TP under mx player and cannot find the answer. I have searched for mx player here in the insider and the only suggestion was to download codec to your computer and then copy to your mx player. I do not see how or understand how to do that on this ONN box. I believe the problem with no subtitles not being available is that there not a folder under the >storage>emulate>o> folder. There should be one that reads >storage>emulate>o>subtitles and there is not one there. How can I get one or create one. I am at a loss. Had no problems with FS. I have installed/uninstalled MX Player Pro several times. Have made sure I have the latest one. I am open to any suggestions. As I said earlier, I am old, hard of hearing and not that tech savvy. Thanks in advance.

I can get subtitles in APKs with using their players IE: streamio, ocean streamz. I cannot get the subtitles when I use another player :IE MX or VLC. When I choose those players and select a subtitle I get a message. “Please check write permissions of storage/emulated/0/subtitles”. Attached is another link which reads " Please choose the root directory of your external storage(eg:usbcard1) on the following screen to grant player write permission". Is there a selection that needs to be made in developer options to make this work. I noticed there is a choice for USB configuration, would that be a possibility? I am not using external storage. This was not an issue with FS but then FS does not have all the settings that the ONN has available. I have an account with Opensubtitles and registered with them with this new box.

Sir, you may need to calibrate your screen.
Go into settings
Display & Sounds
Calibrate Display
Click up or down until the arrows are touching the edge of your tv screen.

The Onn does not have the “Calibrate Display” function.

I ran into this problem today and it looks like it hasn’t been answered yet. I originally thought I needed to give permission to the application, then realized I need to give write permission to MX Player Pro. I think Amazon default settings now restrict permission to only media files.

In Android settings, go to Applications - MX Player Pro - Permissions - Storage then select ALL FILES.
