I needed MS for work given all the IDE’s were MS based, but ran a dual boot with different flavours of Linux over the years on home PC.
Dual HDD’s needed in the early days given the limited amount of memory and disk space.
I have mint on my laptop
MSlea,
mini pc’s are really handy and you can get all the speed you need with certain ones, depending on configuration of course. You can even Hang them on the back of your monitor to clear up desk (or floor) space. Combined with a wireless mouse and keyboard, it’s easy to see why so many are chosing to go with this neat type of setup lately. Good Luck and Enjoy!
Hi @Reece,
Was also, considering an all in one computer. I have a dedicated computer desk, so I don’t mind having a desktop either. Do you have any suggestions for the mini computer?
Thank you, I’ll check them out.
Do these minis come with windows installed? Or do you set up Linux right out of the box?
BeeLink makes good pc’s and they all(mostly) come with windows installed.
I usually get them with windows, and will change / upgrade them as the client wishes. I like both, Linux and “Windoze” but need to practice more with the command line stuff. Beelink is a solid brand and they do make robust quality items, but in the end it is always what the customer wants.
Thank you for the info. I am far from as knowledgeable as most on here, but like to learn.
There are modified isos that will allow you to upgrade from 10-11,basically to get around some of the requirements. As to how well it will run I guess it depends on your cpu and ram.But many people have taken the plunge on pcs that MS said sorry you can’t upgrade to 11.
Boy! There are a lot of responses to this topic.
I am strickly an Apple computer user. Do I need to worry about this?
Yeah, I’m sick of getting pop-up’s from Microsoft just because I bought a new PC with Windows 11 on it. The message in the pop-up’s states that my PC is in danger of being hacked and I need to contact Microsoft immediately for assistance. Microsoft wants you to use everything they provide and of course at a great price. I realize I have been naive about Microsoft yet I really thought that I could control ALL app’s on my own PC . Any suggestions on this issue ?
Are you sure those pop-ups are from Microsoft, you put a virus protector on it should stop the pop-ups. Or maybe an ad blocker. I don’t know anything about Windows 11 so I can’t go any further than that. I do have malicious pop-ups trying to freeze my computer and get me to pay them money, I just use a task manager to get out of it then I report them to Google. Couple years ago I went on a website that was supposed to be home Depot, it was a fake website locked up my computer, try to get me to pay money, again I was able to use task manager get out of it. I reported to Google they took the website down.
