MaxTV IPTV Box at Minnesota State Fair

I’ve seen the MaxTV booth at the Minnesota State Fair for several years in a row. They are selling an IPTV box that has hundreds if not thousands of channels. The box costs $300. I asked the guy if it was best to run a VPN with their box, but he just answered in the form of a question, “Why would you need a VPN?”

Has anyone heard of this or has anyone bought one?

Is this the same MaxTV that says you can watch TV without an internet connection?

I didn’t get a chance to ask too many questions. I can’t imagine that’s the case since the box has an Ethernet port on it and also has what looks to be a Wi-Fi antenna.
