I got a very good deal in directv stream. I have it because they have channels that stream some live sports in 4k. As of now they stream 3 college football games a week in 4k. However, they do not support the shield as one of their devices to stream 4k. It says so on their website. So I switched to my old fire 4k max. Not only does it stream 4k from directv stream, but it also does not have that delay you get when changing channels on the shield using Tivimate.
So my question; is the 3rd generation fire tv cube, the last generation of the cube, that supports side loading apps. Any experience on the matter would be appreciated.
No channel delay for me on my Shield Pro using Tivimate. Are you using the Developer options and have animation scale etc. off or reduced? You can still sideload on all FireOS devices. They have stopped some ADB stuff which rendered a few apps useless in the FireOS. But nothing stopping sideloading that I’m aware of.
No channel delay on the shield pro & tvmate here either.
I have the delay, I’ve discussed it many times with @Miki in the past. Never could figure out what was causing it.
makes me wonder if it isn’t your iptv service causing the issue.
It’s possible however my 4K Maxx is lightning speed when changing channels.
Thank you. I did have my animations on 0. What number should I set the animations on? I monkeyed with it and it seems as though it is happening less. But it is still happening sometimes.
One of the services I use for now is Xtreme. It delays channel changing on my shield. But not on my fire stick 4k.
So just to confirm, I will be able to use Surfshark, Tivimate, and Downloader on a 2024 4th generation Fire TV Cube?
My settings are:
Window animation scale 0
Transition animation scale 0
Animator duration scale .5x
The reason Animator duration scale is set to .5x and the others to 0 is that turning the Animator to 0 causes glitches with the remote and cursor functions.
The above works great for me on my 2019 Shield Pro.
I have the shield pro and a firecube 3. I prefer the firecube 3 as it feels a bit more snappier on menus and general navigation. I do hate the amazon ui but with a few clicks im into an app.
Same here. I use xtreme hd
I had forgotten about this. Ya we tried a bunch of options. I do always recommend setting the Processor mode to Max performance, in System, and that has worked for some but unfortunately for @AJS1 if I remember correctly this didn’t work. We did spend a lot of time trying a bunch of stuff. Always wondered if something was wrong with his Shield Pro, but we gave up guessing.
I actually went out and bought another brand new shield from Best buy, tested it did the same thing. So I took it back. So I know it’s not my unit. I know something in my system, or with the IPTV provider but I won’t know until I actually find the cause and change it.
You couldn’t pay me to go to any Amazon streaming device. Every single one I’ve had has died within two years, including the cube. I bought the Shield and have been a happy camper ever since.
I have never had any problem with the fire devices, touch wood, other than frame rates on an earlier model.
@sleepyeddie
I may have a reasoning for the apparent difference between devices, but that would take a bit of explaining. Suffice to say that because of the different way some devices work, one may show signs of this behaviour and another won’t.
As far as the shield is concerned, there are many settings which are hardware dependent.
The best bet is to have a really good read on the Nvidia site for setting it up with the setup you have.
When you get something like this, it is always tricky given you have many people with different devices connected.
Take my own setup, I use a dedicated monitor in one room and TV’s in other rooms all needing different setups.
