Make your TV Dumb again! (a "Get Smarter" read for sure!)

Vibe Coding

Vibe coding is the software development practice assisted by artificial intelligence where the software developer describes a project or task in natural languages to a large language model, which generates source code automatically. Vibe coding may involve accepting AI-generated code without thorough review of the output, instead relying on results and follow-up prompts to guide changes. The term was coined in February 2025 by computer scientist Andrej Karpathy, a co-founder of OpenAI and former AI leader at Tesla. In March 2025, Merriam-Webster listed the term as a “slang & trending” expression. It was also named the Collins English Dictionary Word of the Year for 2025. Advocates of vibe coding say it allows amateur programmers to produce software without the extensive training and skills required for software engineering.
Check out this awesome article to see how one Vibe coder uses AI to strip smart TVs down to just the apps, HDMI, and no ads or tracking, and is reversable with just one line of code! Cant wait to see if @TROYPOINT can come up with a tutorial for us on this.

Hey @Reece just an fyi, trying to open that article and getting this:

it works great for me…try just copying the url and pasting in your browser and see if that works. I’m using Brave now as I am trending away from Floorp.
heres the whole link: People are now vibe-coding their smart TVs to strip them of ads and unwanted features

Strange nope copying and clicking the link does not work. Using Chrome on a Windows PC. Oh well

Must be a chrome thing but cant verify that as i don’t use it. Works superbly in Brave. Try right-clicking the link, and open in a new tab, or even try opening in a private window.

On my cell, using Brave, opens right up…

Great post @Reece ! There were 2 links to github in that story that showed step by step instructions. Not only did they remove the bots, but they changed the startup screens too. Nice !

Edit: Both links worked for me on Samsung Browser.

I have Chrome and it opens without issue but then I’m using a VPN.

On windows pc with VPN using DuckDuckGo opened for me

I’m using Chrome, the link worked for me.
