I came across this message in Reddit from the developer of Syncler+. It seems he is getting ready to push out an update to the app.
Posted a pic of what the changes will be, but if you go the site read a bit in the reply area. He had a bit more to say to JakedUp.

Just when I was thinking about not renewing my sub he decides to update the app.

… after just settleing down with stremio as my #1 starter… decisions…decisions 
I know! I had pretty much made my mind up not to re-up with them, but now not so certain. lol
Mine just expired today and I decided to renew it instead of going with weyd.stremio is still my number 1 but I like to have both as sometimes one will work better for me on certain shows. Always like that I have 2 reliable places to go to for my shows and movies. 
That’s a pretty significant update list. I’ve always felt Syncler+ was always a reliable primary despite Stremio being very usable at zero cost.
I don’t mind supporting devs that continue to polish and build on an already great platform.

There’s a lot of promise with this new, impending update. Despite working through all the bugs with the beta2, you can see the Devs are focusing on areas that were cumbersome on the last stable releases.
One glaring improvement is how Vendor packages are installed, using an embedded, streamlined way of providing the vendor url. No more need to use a different device to authenticate package installs or using a forked pre-provisioned installer. 
The added details that you can see during source scraping is nice along with the program’s title page. In the past, all you got was the full page list of source results. This includes information on what vendor package is supplying the source.
Good things to come.
I just now did the update. I am in the process of adding the provider packages. So far I’ve run into several bugs but am playing a movie to check things out.
I had to use vlc instead of their exoplayer because I couldn’t access the control while playing the movie.
I used the non-orion package but not that many links are appearing. I did activate RD and Trakt.
My sub expires on the 23rd. So far I am still leaning towards the non-renewal. Unless I see some substantial improvements in the next couple of weeks.
It’s still early in the beta phase yet to fully assess what this new update will really look like until it matures enough for a stable release candidate.
Even the vendor packages, I’m guessing, are not fully matured yet as vendors are still transitioning their packages over. Jakedup should render very similar source lists as it does on the current stable release version - so an abbreviated server listing shows that it’s clearly still a work in progress.
I hope that bugs continue to get ironed out and vendor packages become more available and comprehensive in upcoming weeks.
Good thing is - it’s a no stress update. For those who sub to syncler, you can likely run 2.0+ version along side 1.7xxx. Even if you don’t end up resubbing, you can always return to it if your needs change.
Yes, the beta is a separate player and I have both on my Shield.
You’re absolutely right in that the beta update is still a work in progress. Unfortunately, my sub will most likely expire before the stable version gets released.
I went ahead and got a year sub from Weyd and like it. So, unless this update really rocks my VOD world. Then I see no need to carry two paid subs for basically the same content.
I currently have Syncler+, Syncler+ Beta, Weyd, and Stremio. I did have Onstream but uninstalled that a few days ago.
When the dust settles, I will have one paid and Stremio and it looks like the one paid will be Weyd since I already have another 11 months left on that sub.
Syncler+ should have been releasing updates in a more incremental manner. It’s like Tivimate in that if you sit on your laurels too long. Then other developers will seize the opportunity. Both Syncler and Tivimate haven’t done an update in 7-10 months. Weyd and Sparkle have noticed and are seizing on the opportunity.
Why do you find appealing about Weyd that you didn’t find using S+? Cost? Performance? GUI?
Weyd is less expensive and easier to pay and set up. Other than that I like Syncler+. They both do the same thing, play my programs with no issues.
It’s just that Syncler waited too long to update and I already paid Weyd for a year. I don’t see the benefit in having 2 paid VOD apps.
Besides, I bet the Syncler+ stable release is several months away.
I have been using Syncler+ and Tivimate for a few years and have been extremely happy with both services. The one thing I wish Syncler+ would add to their update would be the ability to categorize their menu home screen. For example…have separate categories for Apple TV, Netflix, Hulu, Prime…and so on. I know with a little research i could find any show I’m looking for and then do a general search. It would just make it a more user friendly environment. All else aside, i love their service and will continue to use it.
That’s a good idea especially for people who are new to these media apps.
I like Syncler+ a ton. Unfortunately, they took too long to push out this update and I have already bought a $15 buck, 1 year sub with Weyd. So, I don’t see any benefit having 2 paid services.
Besides, Syncler+ costs twice as much. I can get Weyd plus Real-Debrid for what it would cost me for just the Syncler+ sub.
I get it, Powerfader. To each his/her own. I suppose I’m familiar and happy with the service, so the extra money I’ll absorb. My post was more about the Catagories than the service.
You can get it cheaper. Depending on what other payment methods you use, you can get either significantly lower than your PP surcharge or zero fee for some other payment methods.
I do wish that syncler wouldn’t rely on using 3rd party resellers and implent their own internal payment system.
The added expenses are due to those 3rd party payment options. Without the added expense, then Syncler and Weyd are the same price.
Yes, I could pay using BTC…if I knew how to do BTC. lol
