Hi all. I have some dislikes about using Kodi. Actually, it may be more about the add-on than Kodi, but all the add-ons seem to share some of these issues. If you know any resolutions, I’ll be thankful. I’ll limit this to three issue and call this thread “part 1”. I use the umbrella add-on, for reference.
When selecting a source from the list of a movie/TV show I want to watch:
a) there are so many abbreviations in the title/source description. Is there a decoder ring for this?
b) How can I tell if the audible language is English? There are so many sources in another language, I spend time starting the stream then ending it because it isn’t in English.
Is there any way to incorporate the voice button on the fire stick remote to say the movie/tv show when performing the search function. using the virtual keyboard with up/down/left/right arrows gets old real fast.
For some reason, when doing a title search or using the “popular this week”/day/whatever, there seems to be an unreasonable amount of Asian cartoons. I don’t know why.
For the audio, many of the links are available in two or more languages.
To select an English track, hit your ‘ok’ aka the center round button after selecting a link, go to the gear icon in the lower right corner, selecting Audio settings, scroll down to the fifth selection “Audio streams” and select your language.
Jayhawk has the best Kodi tutorial ever, “Kodi Start2Finish” available here under the Kodi category. If you go through the set up with that, at least some of annoyances will be addressed.
I would assume, most likely the Asian cartoons are the most popular choices for that particular week/day/whatever. Especially since youngsters are on summer break.
I kinda understand your issues but I look at it this way. At the risk of sounding like a smarty-pants, how much are you paying to watch anything in Kodi? What service offers so much to watch, 24/7/365, and without ads? And for what Kodi costs? I feel that some annoyances are justified for how much I paid for it.
Been using KODI for close to 10 years. I never have done a search within KODI. Get yourself a Trakt TV account. It is cloud based and integrates very well with KODI. when I hear about a show/movie that might be interesting I add it directly to my Trakt account and next time I go into KODI it is there in My Movies/My Shows
In Kodi set player English. In umbrella click on English only. Says not 100 percent. Most 1080 links if not English will say abbreviate language that’ll type the subs but I got to be honest Kodi is awesome!! I use APK s just don’t compare. POV is awesome if not better than umbrella
