Kodi loading error " Waiting for External Storage on ONN 4k Pro

I have made the switch from Firestick to ONN 4k Pro, so I am new to Android operating system. When I try to load Kodi or Kodi Fork, I get this on my screen: “Waiting for External Storage”. Kodi Omega and Kodi 20.2.
Can anyone help with this please?
Thanks, Ken Mc

Did you click “yes” on first run when it asked for permissions?

Yes sir. I’ve uninstalled and re-installed as well. I have no idea what is going on as I said, this is my first time using an Android device. I thinking about resetting, but I thought I would exhaust all avenues first.
Thank you,
Ken Mc

Im trying to understand your problem.

You loaded up your Onn 4k pro and logged into your Gmail account etc and went into the Google playstore and got an error message? Or you went to Downloader and got an error?

Now that you are free from the Amazon restrictions you can download Kodi in the playstore.

Troy kodi fork needs to be gotten from his toolbox.

No. Doesn’t have anything to do with play store. I loaded all apps a week ago. Kodi worked great for about a week, and then all of a sudden I got the message: “Waiting for External Storage”. Now I can’t even load anything for Troy’s toolbox. Somehow, ONN thinks I am out of storage, but I have 23 gigs free. I am at a loss on what to do, unless I do a factory reset.
Thanks.

Ok. Not sure about that issue. Its a new one for me. I’m getting an Onn Pro today and I’ll see when i set it up if there is a storage setting. I dont remeber it when i last set up my other Pro.

Are you using external storage with the usb?

Do you actually have external USB storage plugged into the ONN? If so uninstall Kodi, eject the drive, reinstall Kodi and make sure to do all the permissions as per install instructions. Once Kodi is in, then remount the external USB drive.

Yes I do. I will give that a try and see if that fixes the problem. I will let you know.

Miki, I gave that a try, and I got “Not Enough External Storage” when I tried to install Kodi from play store. Also, when I tried to install from toolbox, it just hung on “Connecting”.
I guess I will have to do a factory reset if nobody has any other ideas.
Thanks.

I just set up my new ONN Pro yesterday and did not have any problems with Kodi or any other apps. Wolf Launcher and the Launch Manager worked great…btw, I have multiple standard ONN devices and always recommend to my friends to purchase one for the $19.95 I also have Nvidia Pro. I bought the ONN Pro because I always “buy” a new one when Troy comes out with his announcement. I do notice that the wifi seems faster than the standard unit but other than that, I really have not seen a big advantage. I don’t load up a bunch of junk and have never had a trouble with memory on the standard unit. I am disappointed that ONN install a cheap ethernet module instead of installing a higher, faster one. For example, my Nvidia ethernet connection can easily get 400+ mbps download while the ONN Pro still only gets 100

You can connect your ethernet thru the 3.0 USB port. It will significantly increase your Mbps speed.

Ethernet maxes out at 100MB on the ONN Pro. Ethernet is not the rage it was 5 years ago especially with High Speed Wifi/fiber. I ditched Ethernet years ago as I get almost 400MB on my AT&T Fiber Wifi

I went ahead and did a factory reset. Everything working fine again. I now remember when setting up the first time, it did ask if I wanted to migrate data and I clicked yes. I suspect that was caused that error and other issues.
Thanks for everyone’s reply.
Best,
Kenny Mc

If for some odd reason you want killer Ethernet speeds get a 3.2 USB hub with Gig ethernet port. Then from what I’ve read you will get speeds around 450Mbs down. But as @MarkxG said, WiFi speeds are crazy fast these days. Although for those who need security, Ethernet is more secure.
