Hi all, today I woke up and when I opened my fire stick I didn’t have kodi. I can see the app but when I open it, all I get is amazon apps and other junk. I also noticed that my ipvanish gets knocked off on a regular basis. Anybody having the same issue lately??
Which stick model do you have? Have you optimized and turned off some of the Amazon data collection etc.? Have you cleared all caches? Have you installed “fast task killer” to stop any apps running in the background? Do you have a vpn installed so your ISP doesn’t throttle your connection? Lastly, check and see how much “free” space you have. With say a full Kodi you will need a minimum 1.5GB free. Firestick=no build. Use a Troy fork and minimal addons. If this isn’t in your wheelhouse then read up on adding storage.
Have fun and STREAM ON!!!
Thanks for the info. I’ve been using a 2nd or 3rd gen firestick. Always using IPV, and usually I have around .80 gig or more memory and haven’t had any problems until recently. I have the kodi app showing but when I open it and scroll down to addon, kodi is gone as well as some other apps I added. I tried to re-add kodi and nothing, even trying the apk quick load. I have no explanation for this. Thanks again for your help.
.8 GB free is no where near enough. As I mentioned 1.5GB minimum is what you need. 2nd or 3Rd gen doesn’t help as they are different. Get to know what you have. Firestick 4K? Firestick 4K Max. and so on. I highly recommend ditching older sticks and get the latest Max that has been on sale for around $25 USD. They’re faster. Kodi is very Data intensive and with major I/O cycles you need the most powerful device you can afford. The Max will handle a full build but only if you keep additional apps to a bare minimum. But imho a fork and 2 to 4 addons maximum. With every additional release of Kodi the demands on CPU’s is increasing and without adding storage to a stick they are getting to the point where a full fledged build will overtax them. Heat is also a huge problem with sticks. It may be time to see if you can afford to buy a device with superior specs like the Fire Cube 3rd gen.
Same here…kodi was gone I reinstalled but the crew address isnt “connected to network” so no add ons
All good points, thank you.
Just so you know, I got a 4K Max and all the issues went away. It appears that the sticks I had were dated and as you said, heat was an issue as was memory which affected function. All’s well now, thanks for you help. Rm
