Some of you on here know that I love my Kodi addons as much as the next person. So to settle the debate on which Kodi addon is the best, I took a deep dive through the settings and tested about 8 of the most popular ones to determine a winner. Without further ado, I declare my #1 to be…
UMBRELLA
If you’ve never installed a Kodi add-on before, follow this Troypoint guide. The links below have to be typed in within Kodi.

In order to use Umbrella, you also need to install the Coco Scrapers module from https://cocojoe2411.github.io/ and then go into the “Tools” section of Umbrella, go to “Providers”, enable external providers, then select Cocoscrapers module from the list. You also will want to go to the accounts section and authorize your Real Debrid and Trakt accounts if you have them.
Here’s some of the reasons why I believe this is the best Kodi addon available today:
Works with Real Debrid and can show cached torrents only for the fastest playback with no buffering.
Works with Trakt to show movies and shows in your collection or watchlist. Also gives you list options such as your recently watched movies or shows so you can quickly find them, as well as suggestions of what to watch based on your recently watched items.
Page item limit for results up to 60 movies or shows. No more clicking through multiple pages being only able to view 20 at a time!
Option to pull metadata from IMDB, TMDB, or Trakt.
Customizable colors for search results.
Hide cam copies and unreleased movies.
Customizable sorting order for search results.
Resume playback options
Prioritize Dolby Vision, HDR, AV1, or HEVC results to the top of the list.
Option to filter out DV, HDR, HEVC, AV1, AppleTV+, AVC, DIVX, MP4, MPEG, and WMV files in search results.
Option to exclude SD results if better quality results exist.
Option to filter out 3D results.
Set minimum and maximum resolutions for search results.
Filter results by maximum file size or connection speed.
Remove uncached torrent results and duplicates.
The list goes on and on with everything that you can customize with this addon if you are willing to take the time to go through the settings and tweak it to what works best for your setup. If you use Kodi, I suggest you give this a try!
a lot of the Addons allow you to do those things. I’ve been using Homelander for the past several months with The Crew as a backup. Defintely going to check out Umbrella as well
I’d replace AfFENity with Fen because their adult search results are unblockable. Just a personal issue i have with AfFENity right now. Good addon otherwise.
Ive been using Coalition a lot lately so it’d be on my list.
To be honest you put a lot more thought into your addons then i ever have. I mostly just look for good results and compatibility with rd and trakt. I feel like I’m missing out. Lol
My only pitfall with the umbrella addon, and let me stress how minor of an issue it is , is that it doesn’t have a scrolling bar on the results page after it is done scraping.
I like to skip from say 4K to 1080 sources quickly as possible and this addon just won’t let me
I will say I agree that this addon is the best of the rest. If you haven’t given it a try than you’re missing out!
Also have to say this is one of the most maintained Kodi addons as the dev is always fixing and maintaining it.
If you dont want 4k results at all you can have 1080 at max quality in Sorting and Filters settings section. Otherwise, you’ll need to click through the 4ks.
I’m not an everyday user of Kodi by any means, but do enjoy fiddling around with it. I have said for a while Umbrella is super, super underrated. I always thought Seren was the best and my favorite, but Umbrella blows it away in my opinion. Add-ons like this make we want to use Kodi more.
Set this up along with RD and Trakt. You are right this is an Amazing Addon and returns sources lightening Fast witha ton of Bells and Whistles. Tested a Few New movies and got tons of 4K streams. Do you use Trakt with Umbrella? There’s an issue with the Trakt integration. I Authorised my account and my credentials are there however when I go into My TV Shows or My Movies then into Collection (Like I’ve been doing for Years) None of my TV Shows or Movies are listed. But the strange thing is if I go into History, episodes watched, recent episodes…I see that my show/movie history is there. So while Umbrella is integtrated with Trakt None of my Shows/Movies will pull up and I know it’s not something I’m doing or haven’t done on my end because I’ve Authorised Trakt several hundreds of times over the Years.
There’s also some posts on Reddit from others having this issue but I haven’t found any solutions yet. Bummer because this Addon looks great but without Trakt integration working correctly it’s a showstopper
EDIT: - Fixed this. It’s not an error but rather a different process than any other addon I’ve ever used. You have to go into a sub menu of Umbrella and select all your shows/movies whereas in other addons they just show up. Dumbest Functionality I’ve seen but it’s working
You just go to “My Movies” or “My Shows” from the main menu and then click on “Collection”. They should all show up if you’re synced with Trakt. I created widgets and shortcuts on my home screen so I don’t have to navigate to it every time.
I been using umbrella for awhile now its one of my 2 favs along with fen lite. My backup is crew. Fen lite updates often like umbrella. I think umbrella was a fork from Fen correct me if Im wrong. I just purchased onn Google 4k will be setting that up looking forward to 32g internal storage. Google voice and wi-fi 6.
